Publix 6/2 (Steve) – $9.56 PROFIT on $88.10 of Merchandise (110.9% Saved)

I had an AWESOME trip to Publix today. I didn’t score the moneymaker deal on Snickers Ice Cream though. I checked my inserts before shopping and the ones I got from Fred (my business partner in Michigan) didn’t have the coupon. I also didn’t find the ConAgra coupon tearpads at either store I visited; had I found them, my trip would have been H-U-G-E. However, I had something awesome happen at BOTH stores I visited today. I found Centrum Vitamints on clearance at both stores. They had stickers on them and were not at their regular places on the shelves. At both stores the 120 ct bottles rang up for the full $13.99, even though the stickers had a different price. For those of you not aware, when an item rings up higher than it is supposed to at Publix, you get the item for free.

I also used a $5 off $40 Winn-Dixie competitor coupon at the second store, so there’s an extra $5 of savings from that coupon listed in the final statistics for this trip. To get this Winn-Dixie competitor coupon, buy anything at a Winn-Dixie store. Complete the online survey listed on the receipt and you will have access to a $5 off $40 printable coupon.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used…

STORE #1
ONE CENTRUM VITAMINTS 120 CT, on clearance $6.99 but I paid $0 because it rang up for the wrong price (reg. $13.99)
Used one $2/1 Centrum MultiGummies or Vitamints Publix store coupon, Publix Health & Beauty Advantage Flyer (exp 6/2, but don’t worry…the new H&B Advantage Flyer starting 6/3 has a $2/1 Centrum or Centrum Silver or Centrum Vitamints Publix store coupon too!)
and used one $4/1 Centrum Vitamints or MultiGummies printable coupon (not sure if still available) or 5/21 RP insert
NET PRICE: FREE + $6 MONEYMAKER!

TWO WILD SELECTIONS SOLID LIGHT TUNA 5 OZ, on sale $2.69 (reg. $2.99) – sale end date unknown
Used one $2.50/2 Wild Selections Tuna 5 oz Publix store coupon, Grocery Advantage Flyer (exp 6/2!)
and used two $2/1 Wild Selections Product printable coupons (scale to 60 if you want it to print a normal coupon size) – limit 2 per trip
NET PRICE FOR ALL: FREE + $1.12 MONEYMAKER!

TWO CANS OF PEDIGREE DOG FOOD 13.2 OZ, on sale $0.65 (reg. $0.85)
No coupons used
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $1.30 (or 65 cents each!)
***I bought these so I wouldn’t need an override from Customer Service. A few things can trigger the override: a coupon that will make your subtotal negative OR when you have a larger number of coupons than the number of items you are buying. Had I not bought the Pedigree, I would’ve needed a supervisor to override it and that would’ve taken more time at the store. I was in a bit of a hurry.

STORE #2
FOUR TOTINO’S PARTY PIZZAS, on sale $1 (reg. $1.44)
Get $1 cashback from SavingStar for buying four Totino’s Party Pizzas
Used one $1/4 Totino’s Party Pizzas printable coupon (preclipped)
Price at Register: $3, but will get $1 from SavingStar
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $2 (or 50 cents each!)

ONE TOTINO’S PIZZA ROLLS 40 CT, on sale BOGO $4.49
ONE TOTINO’S STUFFED NACHOS, on sale BOGO $4.49
Get $1 cashback from SavingStar for buying Totino’s Rolls, Stuffed Nachos or Pizza Sticks 12.3 oz or larger
Get $0.25 cashback from Ibotta for submitting any grocery receipt
Used one $2/2 Totino’s Pizza Rolls and Stuffed Nachos peelie coupon found on product
Price at Register: $2.49, but will get $1 from SavingStar and $0.25 from Ibotta
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $1.24 (or 62 cents each!)
***That was pure luck to find the peelie. I was planning on using the $0.75/1 coupons here. There is also a $1/2 printable coupon here.

TWO KINGSFORD MATCH LIGHT CHARCOAL 3.1 LBS, reg. $4.39
Used two $2/1 Kingsford or Match Light Charcoal 2.8-11.1 lb Publix store coupon, Grocery Advantage Flyer (exp 6/2, but there is a new Kingsford coupon in the flyer that starts 6/3…but the item I just bought doesn’t match the new coupon)
and used two $1/1 Kingsford Briquets 3 lb or larger printable coupons (preclipped)
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $2.78 (or $1.39 each!)

TWO VLASIC DILL RELISH 10 OZ, reg. $1.89

and used one $1/2 Vlasic Pickles, Peppers or Relish coupon, 5/14 SS insert
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $0.78 (or 39 cents each!)

FOUR BIRDS EYE VOILA SKILLET MEALS, on sale BOGO $4.79
Used four $1/1 Birds Eye Voila coupons, 5/7 SS insert
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $5.58 (or $1.45 each!)

ONE CENTRUM VITAMINTS 120 CT, on clearance $7.97 but I paid $0 because it rang up for the wrong price (reg. $13.99)

and used one $4/1 Centrum Vitamints or MultiGummies printable coupon (not sure if still available) or 5/21 RP insert
Price at Register: $7.99 because I originally paid the bill with the wrong price, but received $13.99 from Customer Service and will get $4 from SavingStar
NET PRICE: FREE + $10 MONEYMAKER!

TWO WILD SELECTIONS SOLID LIGHT TUNA 5 OZ, on sale $2.69 (reg. $2.99) – sale end date unknown
Used one $2.50/2 Wild Selections Tuna 5 oz Publix store coupon, Grocery Advantage Flyer (exp 6/2!)

  1. ok cool but I don’t understand why you would push manufacture coupons and store coupons on Publix when they are already giving the product to you for free? seems a little excessive Steve

  2. ..and then it seems like u knowingly charged the second one on its own receipt to submit for money back since you were going to get credited the original amount back at customer service on your second trip, instead of doing it the same way as you did in the first transaction where they marked it down to $0 when u said u were in a hurry. that is if you did those transactions at separate stores in that order. I may be wrong but still seems like a system twist

    • Steve Pinski says:

You’re entitled to your opinion. This whole web site is about following the rules, but using them to the shopper’s advantage. If there’s a deal you don’t feel comfortable with doing, by all means skip it. Thanks for your feedback.

      • so you are confirming that this is how you need to perform this deal in order to make $16 on the two centrum products?

        • Steve Pinski says:

I am saying that what I have written is exactly what happened at my store. It takes a lot of luck for something to ring up at the wrong price and you should assume that they will ring up correctly. However, if they don’t, you should exercise all your rights within the rules.

  3. well then maybe they should make some additional rules to prevent people from taking advantage of honest mistakes over a few dollars, but then again this site is ALL about money and makes it upsetting to see couponers performing deals in this manner

  4. …ruining the rep for the rest of us… nonetheless keep up the RIGHTFUL work

    • Steve Pinski says:

If you’re going to be a smartass, I’ll block your IP address so you can’t use this device where you registered. Free speech, almost…but you’re in my “house” right now. Repeated inflammatory commenting like a troll, no. Your choice.

  5. haha go ahead and try. I use a vpn so you’ll be wasting your time

  6. Shut up John! We appreciate all the hard work Steve puts into writting these up and in the end saving my family weekly grocery savings. If its not for you Joh or John, then you need to move on.

    • Steve Pinski says:

We need a like button for this 😉 Thanks!

    • You guys are completely missing the point. I appreciate and am thankful for Steve taking the time to post all the deals he does, it’s just this deal that screams I AM EXTREME! But I do really appreciate you, Steve, for finding and posting all these deals especially getting an extra 20% off employee discount at CVS making most of my deals moneymakers. You’re the only reason people call me coupon John. Plus I direct tons of customers to this website and tell all my friends about it. Sorry for upsetting you Steve I just wanted to confirm your method of shopping earlier.

      • Steve Pinski says:

Apology accepted. I didn’t get pissed until you wrote this, “…ruining the rep for the rest of us… nonetheless keep up the RIGHTFUL work”

However, let’s just put this one behind us and move on from here.

  7. I do not understand why the coupon(s) would still apply to an item that became free?
A couple of months ago, I intended on using a coupon for a Carvel Ice Cream Cake, along with one of the cashback apps (Checkout51?).
The cake rang up the wrong (higher) price, so I received it for free, and the cashier handed me back the coupon (which I believe is the correct procedure? I don’t know if Publix outlines what the correct procedure is regarding the use of coupons when implementing the ‘Publix Promise’).
Additionally, I submitted the receipt to the cashback app and they credited my account (which I believe is the correct procedure, being that I did ‘purchase’ the cake from the store).

    • Maureen says:

Publix accepts coupons for items that are free in a BOGO sale, so it’s something they do as a matter of policy. With a free item due to Publix Promise, there is nothing in the policy to address the situation.
