I had a great trip to Walgreens today. I had an awesome 20x Everyday Points on Beauty/Personal Care coupon (valid 5/13 & 5/14 only) in my Walgreens Balance Rewards account, so I clipped it to my card and earned a bunch of extra points today. If you have this coupon, run to the store if yours is still open. I was credited for it on both of my transactions today. Also, from what I can tell from the one receipt I didn’t misplace, this coupon also double dipped with the 5x Everyday Points in-ad store coupon. I received my 1x for Everyday Points, 19x more for the 20x Beauty/Personal Care Paperless Coupon, plus I received 4x more for clipping the same coupon that is in the weekly ad for 5x Everyday Points with $10+ purchase. (That means I got a total of 24x the regular Everyday Points!)

I am going to estimate the points earned in the second transaction, because I misplaced my receipt. However, I should be able to get it pretty close to correct, since I redeemed points to pay almost my entire bill. That means that the only part that should’ve earned points will be the part of my bill paid with manufacturer’s coupons. In this case, I know I used $17.75 of manufacturer’s coupons on that order. That means I should’ve earned 170 regular points times 24 because of the 24x multiplier combination I mentioned above. So my estimate is 4080 points ($4.08-$5.10 value when redeemed.) These points are included in the final statistics for this trip and I used the higher $5.10 value since I (almost) always redeem my points in chunks of 40,000 for $50. (I do this because every 1000 points redeemed are worth $1.25 when you redeem this many in a single transaction.)

  1. jeff brown says:

hi steve you paid for the razors with points and still got the points

    • Steve Pinski says:

No, I paid for the first transaction with cash. I was a few points shy of 40,000 points, so I used the first transaction to get my point total over 40K so I could redeem 40K points for $50 in the second transaction

  2. Thanks that’s why I asked! Thanks again!

  3. Hi! how often does the Walgreens give 20X on beauty/personal care?

    • Steve Pinski says:

This was the first time I had a coupon like this other than the one that I received for signing up for the Beauty Club.

      • Oh I see. Thanks. One more question. If I have a perk like get 7000 pts when you spend $20, and I redeemed points to pay for my items, do I still get the 7000 pts?

        • Maureen says:

If the promotion requires you to spend a minimum dollar amount to earn a bonus, you will not earn the bonus if you use points to pay for the transaction.

  4. Steve,
Did u use 50,000 points to pay for all the body wash, Colgate, and candy? I am assuming you went to the store and purchased everything. I understand now that it’s best to have 50,000 points or more at all times in my account. I aa getting there.
Thanks for the posts. They help me a lot!

    • Steve Pinski says:

40,000 points is what you need to take $50 off your bill. I did use 40,000 points to pay for the second transaction. (I didn’t use any points to pay for the first one.)
