When I bought my mother a package of Flonase Sensimist last Sunday, she got a $10/$50 coupon at the end of her register receipt, expiring today.  I put together a trip for her with sales starting today.  I did not get the $2/1 Whole Blends coupon in my inserts or I would have bought two.  I did not get the $1/1 Maybelline coupon in my inserts or I would have bought two single eye shadows.  The $1/1 Barbasol coupon that is supposed to be a CVS store coupon available today printed as a manufacturer’s coupon, so I did not get that deal.  Note: the Aveeno printables beeped on the shaving gel.  The cashier explained that the button to override rejected coupons has been removed from the register screen, so cashiers do not have the option of inputting a beeper at their discretion.  The shift manager has to be called to evaluate beepers.  The manager at my store today was satisfied that the Aveeno coupons matched the product, so she put them through.

Well CVS hasn’t sent me a 10/50 or anything close to that for over a year, and that’s probably true for most of us, so seeing a $0.23 shopping trip nowadays is a pipedream. Still a good shopping trip, but I am shopping far less given the changes in policy and I guess targeting me to no longer get the emails, direct mails, etc. discounts like you enjoyed.

    • Steve Pinski says

I haven’t gotten anything in the email or on the receipt (as far as % or total purchase goes.) When this happens, it’s best to just get a new card and start over. Spend down the ECBs you currently have on good paper product, soda, bottled water or clearance deals.

    • Maureen says

My card has been dead for a few years I only get weekly emails for online-only discounts. No emailed coupons, no mailed coupons.

This $10/$50 deal was on my mother’s card. It’s been a long time since she got anything, either, so it was a big surprise to see the $/$$ coupon at the end of her receipt for a value that was within reach (not a $10/$100 that I once got at the end of my receipt).

    • Maureen says

And I agree with you about cooling off on CVS. The sales are repetitive, the red machine coupons expire in one week instead of two, and I am getting fewer and fewer good weekly red machine coupons.

I only got eight red machine coupons on Sunday, and I’ll probably only use one of them. That one is a $2/$6 body wash or bar soap coupon, so I will probably use that for Irish Spring bar soap on Saturday evening at an early activation store because the coupons for bar soap expire on Saturday and the sale starts Sunday. That’s the only thing I’ll get on my card this week, and it’s technically next week’s sale.
