I had a two great trips to CVS today. Well…it’s hard to say the second one was actually “great”, but I had to swing by a second store to get the third St. Ives product since the coupon had a limit of two identical coupons. Also, one of our cards received $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks that aren’t accounted for elsewhere, so I’m including those $5 of extra savings in the final stats for this trip.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

TRANSACTION #1 – MY CARD
TWO SIMPLE MICELLAR WIPES 25 CT, on sale BOGO 50% off $7.99
TWO SIMPLE MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER, on sale BOGO 50% off $7.99
TWO VASELINE LOTION 10 OZ, on sale BOGO 50$ OFF $4.29 ($6.43 for two)
***NOTE: I had them ring these items up in a specific order so my wipes would be full price items at $7.99. I was emptying my cart (rather slowly) while he was ringing the first few items in my order. I wanted to make sure he scanned a wipes first for $7.99, then a cleansing water second for $3.99 (because it was the 50% off item), then a third wipes for $7.99 and then finally a cleansing water for $3.99 (because it was the other 50% off item.) This ONLY works if your items are all the same price at your store and ONLY if you give the wipes as the first and third items. Otherwise, your wipes could be your 50% off items and then your coupons will be worth less money.

  1. St. Ives gets my vote for the BEST deal this week!!

  2. Same thing happened with my CVS colgate coupon. Cashier pushed it thru tho.

  3. Stephanie says:

I took the quiz but never got the coupon!

  4. Ken from Philly says:

Quiz coupon hasn’t been available for days FYI. Thanks for shopping ideas.

  5. CVS wouldnt take my manufacturers coupon for !.00 with the CVS coupon 2.50 for the Colgate that was on sale for 3.00. I was told it couldnt be a negative amount on the register. I dont know how others get a profit.

    • Maureen says:

They took them because the cashier scanned the coupons and let the register decide. However, I had expensive items in my order, so the coupon overage was absorbed by other things. CVS has a policy against giving cash back, so if you only got the toothpaste and handed over both coupons, the cashier would not have been able to accept both.

  6. Mama Bear Williams says:

I was wondering why the st. Ives was done on a different card?

    • Maureen says:

Stephanie’s card had a $1/$5 CVS body wash coupon from the Red Coupon Machine. Steve’s card did not get that coupon.
