My CVS Trip 4/2 (Steve) – Paid $5.73 for $44.43 of Merchandise (87.1% Saved)

I had a nice little trip to CVS today. We are almost out of kitchen trash bags, I so I was very happy that I had a nice CVS store coupon from the Red Coupon Machine last week that made these Hefty Bags cheap. FYI – The Tide & Gain coupons beeped and my cashier wasn’t going to let me use them, until…I pointed out two things: 1) The Gain Flings bag on the coupon is identical in dimensions and design to the one in the CVS sale, and 2) The CVS ad tells us to use the $3 coupon on this product. After she saw the ad, she was super-cool about it.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

  1. What’s with the p&g tide coupon not being a coupon? You have to print it?

    • P&G is doing that in some areas. Mine has to print it, too. Other areas get the actual coupon in the insert. Only P&G can tell you why.

  2. It say on 19.5oz or higher . Can’t use because the 16 pack is 14oz or 12 oz

    • Steve Pinski says

19.5 oz or higher for the Dreft. It depends how you read the coupon. The CVS ad states to use the $3/1 coupon on them. If your store refuses, that’s a crappy thing to do.

  3. I tried to purchase 4 of these yesterday, and I guess they must have changed to wording on the P&G coupon………… it now has the stipulation of only allowing **2** per household per day (not like it used to say: limit of 4 identical coupons in one transaction)

Wonder if this is how it is going to be from now own? I’m surprised your cashier didn’t catch this.
Luckily, I have two cards for CVS and I asked if she would allow me to purchase two from each card.
    She obliged 🙂

    • My P&G inserts did not have the Tide coupons, but the $3/1 one I printed has a limit of 4 per day.
