  1. Can someone help me? I went to Dollar General last night. I had the $5 off $25 coupon and they told me after 7pm the next week add starts, you can use both adds. That part worked fine everything rang up right. So i bought glad trash bags and swiffer wet pads an alot of other items. My total was $67ish the $5 off came off and i had a digital coupon for swiffer an trash bags i dont know if those came off she couldn’t tell me. I assumed? the digital coupons is for (1) item you can’t use them multiple times? So i had printed coupons for the rest. The lady was very mad she told me if i use coupons i cant get the $5 off $25 digital coupon she even tried taking it off and it wouldn’t let her. And i had alot of coupons that made stuff free that was on sale or clearance not overages just free or a penny or two. She wouldn’t let me use those she said Dollar General policy is you can’t get anything free or a moneymaker? Never heard of that? A hand full of coupons worked she put them in the register after scanning them. I ended up canceling my order and she said she couldn’t give me back my coupons she said it was locked. So i lost good coupons. I can’t tell if it used my digital coupons so i can’t use them again since the transaction was canceled but i have enuf paper ones. My question if i go to another Dollar General an use my $2 off $10 can i also use my digital coupons for trash bags and swiffer and use my printed coupons? If i buy (3) swiffers $4 each and (1) trash bag $4.95 each. Total $16.95. Use my $2 off (1) swiffer digital and $2 off (2) swiffer printable coupon and use (1) $1 off trash bags digital and use $2 off $10 purchase. My total should be $9.95. In this transaction i will also buy a few more items after those coupons around $10 extra so my actual cash spent would be over $20 or so well over the $10 needed. In the future if i wanted to use a store coupon $2 off $10 or $5 off $25 an use coupons an get my total way down low like a dollar or two would that work? Any advice or wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all you do!!!

Whoa….if the purchase wasn’t completed, she can’t keep your coupons! That’s like she is stealing your money.

Dollar General explicitly allows overage in their coupon policy. Your cashier needs to be educated: http://www2.dollargeneral.com/Customer-Care-Center/pages/coupon-policy.aspx

You should contact the corporate office and make sure they know that the employees at this store need proper training on the coupon policy.

      • Thank you for that info. I will be contacting them asap. I also paid $8.88 i had left on a gift card before i decided to cancel the transaction. She said my money will go back on my card. I received an email with my receipt of the transaction it shows as if i paid for it all an doesn’t show a voided transaction. I called to check my balance it is not on there. It might take a couple days to be put back on? I did see the digital coupons are gone. Its shows used on my receipt. And there not on my account. Thanks again for your help.

It’s possible it could take time to go back on the gift card, but the folks at Dollar General will know better. I still can’t believe that she confiscated your coupons. That’s incredible.
