Kmart 6/8 (Wayland) – Paid $0.21 on $60.71 Worth of Merchandise (99.7% Saved)

Team Couponaholic now has a Shop Your Way Personal Shopper account! Personal Shopper is a little bit of a misnomer, it’s more like “Personal Deal Finder,” ‘cuz while ya’ll are great, I’m not shopping for you, shopping for me is exhausting enough! 😉 There are a few benefits though to having a personal shopper:

  • When you sign up, you’ll get a three month trial to SYW Max, which allows you to get free shipping on orders that are either over $30 or have a single item priced at over $10. There is no Credit Card required and it doesn’t automatically renew.
  • Most months, Shop Your Way sends out a few bucks in points to members who are signed up with a personal shopper that are valid for a couple of days. There is no guarantee this will continue in the future, but it’s happened almost every month that I’ve been watching. I’ll be sure to let you know in the blog and on Shop Your Way, when this is coming.
  • Personal Shoppers have the ability to send out store coupons to clients. What coupons are available tend to vary, but I definitely plan on sending out the best value coupon I can find to all clients on the first day of each Super Doubles.

To add me as your Personal Shopper, you’ll want to head over to Shop Your Way to sign in. You’ll then want to click *here* to make me your personal shopper.

kmart 6-8So, this was an interesting trip to Kmart.  Even with some of the things that went wrong, I was actually very laid back about the problems.  The cashier was friendly.  (His name was George, he asked me to mention his name. 😉 )  And the fact that I didn’t have to worry about making sure I hit the minimum kept from stressing when things went wrong.  I was unable to do the Renuzit deal, because the register couldn’t scan the coupon.  Although, some Kmarts will manually override it.  I grabbed the Folgers, because that is a great price per ounce on coffee and gave me something to sink the overage into.  As I mentioned in a previous post, in the past, I’ve neglected to include my standard points (and doubled points for SYW Max), but, honestly, the points are part of the savings at Kmart and in the interest of completeness, I plan on doing it going forward.  (To get the double points, you have to have a paid SYW Max account, but it costs $39 for a year and you get a guaranteed $3 a month back in points on the first of each month, so it runs $0.25/month.  But since you get double points, all you would need to spend is $25/month to break even.)

So here’s how it went:

ONE ENSURE PLUS DARK CHOCOLATE 6PK, on sale $2.74, regular price $10.99

So, my original plan was to get two of the Ensure to get extra overage, but whenever the cashier would scan the second coupon it crashed the register.  The first time, there were some coupons voided and re-entered, because the cashier typoed the value.  I figured it was just too many in and outs.  So we waited for the computer to reboot and restarted.  Well, on the second attempt, once the second Ensure coupon was entered, it once again rebooted.  I decided at that point only to get one six pack.  I wish this one didn’t cause problems, that last coupon would have made this trip a moneymaker. 🙂

  1. Same thing happened to me too, last week when we had doubling all printed coupons were crashing their system

  2. Way to go. Great trip

  3. ladybugpam says:

Omg, me too! Crashed a register twice with the printable redplum NYC q’s this past double q event and once with the printable redplum $2 maybelline mascara qs the event b4 that. WHY won’t kmart get computers from THIS century?!?!?!

    • Wayland P says:

From what I’ve read they are struggling. I think they’ve done some things to head in the right direction, but unfortunately, it doesn’t leave a lot of extra room to do things like upgrade cash registers. I wish they would…

  4. Ann-Marie says:

I’m so confused with the SYW max program, personal shopper, etc. I received an email, I have 38,000 surprise points. But, there are so many restrictions on what they can be used on. Any ideas, suggestions?

    • Wayland P says:

If you are a paid max member: (these perks are not with the free trial)

      * You get $3 in Surprise Points on the first of each month that you can use on any purchase of $3 or more. They are valid for two weeks.
      * You get an extra 1% back in points on your purchases. (These are not surprise points. These are regular points. Everyone gets 1% standard, so you will get 2% as a Paid SYW Max Memeber, unless you use a Sears card and then you get more.)

The surprise points you are looking at with all the restrictions, everyone gets. They seem to be somewhat random, but based on your past purchases, kinda like CVS coupons. That’s how I treat the ones with restrictions, if there is a deal I want to do and I have surprise points that match it, it’s kinda like a bonus store coupon.

      I hope this makes sense…

    • Wayland P says:

As for the Personal Shopper stuff, they usually send out regular points once a month to personal shopper clients. Usually in the $3 to $5 range. These are regular points, the only trick with these is they are only valid for 3 days. That’s why I posted Sat on the blog that there were $3 in points out there for clients.

The max you get for being a client is a free trial, and the only real benefit to it is free shipping, you don’t get the bonus points on every purchase and the $3 in Surprise points on the first of the month.

If you have a specific Surprise Points deal you want me to look at, let me know. (Maybe I’ll try doing a matchup like that, like I do with the CVS coupons.)

    • Wayland P says:

I hope that clarified things somewhat. If not, keep asking questions and I’ll answer as best I can.

  5. Ann-Marie says:

Thanks…I was able to use the $20 surprise points, with the multiple restrictions. Purchased 3 pack of toilet paper. Final cost $0.00
