Fred is headed to Dollar General…Will he blow it?

This is Fred doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in his stupid Michigan shirt.

OK, so we’re going to have a little fun, possibly at Fred’s expense. For those of you that don’t know Fred, he is my business partner on Couponaholic. He occasionally posts on the site, but usually he is behind the scenes doing payroll, account management, HR stuff and the like. However, he’s been watching all our shopping madness and I think it’s long past time for him to learn how to get a deal for himself.

Fred has tried in the past with mixed results…generally more bad than good. So, to break him back in easy, I asked him what he wanted to buy this week. His answer? Coca-Cola 12-packs. I quickly said, “I have the answer and it’s an easy deal to do.”

I’m sending Fred to his local Dollar General. There Coca-Cola 12-packs are on sale 2/$5 this week. You must buy at least two to get the price and you can only buy up to four per transaction.

But that’s too easy. There aren’t any coupons in that deal. Plus, even though 2/$5 is an AWESOME price for everyone else that doesn’t visit Couponaholic, that’s not good enough for us.

So…I’m making Fred buy some toothpaste to get a little overage to apply to those Coke 12-packs. There’s a $4/3 Crest/Oral-B Digital Manufacturer’s Coupon at Dollar I’m making him sign up for digital coupons, load the coupon to his account and redeem it at the store. (Anyone want to bet he’ll screw it up?)

The coupon has some exclusions on it, including trial/travel, Cavity Protection, Health Clean, Cavity Defense Brush or Essential Complete Floss. However, I showed him this shopping trip so he would know an item that definitely works with the digital coupon.

So here’s the deal I’ve instructed Fred to do…

BUY TWO (OR FOUR) COKE 12-PACKS, on sale 2/$5 (limit 4)
BUY THREE CREST WHITENING WITH BAKING SODA TOOTHPASTE 2.9 OZ (or any other three products that match the Dollar General digital coupon), regular price $1
Before shopping, load the $4/3 Crest/Oral-B Digital Coupon at Dollar
Enter phone number associated with digital coupon account at the register keypad to get the deduction for your Crest/Oral-B (deducts $4)

There are a lot of really good deals at Dollar General right now, but I decided to keep it simple for him. View my AWESOME Dollar General trips from the past week HERE and HERE.

LOL Danielle…obviously you did not see his previous attempts a few years ago. Maybe we should have an experiment over the next few weeks. We can pit Fred vs. one of your little ones with the same shopping list each week 😉

FYI – I’d bet on one of your kiddos!

  2. Good luck, Fred!
