dollar-general-051615I had an AWESOME trip to Dollar General today! I was pleased to find everything I was looking for in stock! That’s pretty awesome (and rare at my Dollar General.) Usually I’m adjusting on the fly, but Lady Luck was on my side today.

  1. Tristan says:

My iBotta doesn’t t show dollar general as an option… 🙁

    • Steve Pinski says:

Weird. I have DG on my list and it had the Glad offer. I already submitted it and received the $1 credit.

  2. I went to DG for the Friskies $1.80 a box, I had over 10 printable coupons as this coupon reset MANY MANY times. The cashier scanned it, no problems, she then realized that the coupon value was greater than the product and the tax from my red bull was less than it was supposed to be, she said over and over she was not getting fired, held their coupon policy sign for me to read where it stated no overage on a coupon will be used on any product, blah blah blah. another cashier stated it is not a big deal, she is still paying for her red bull and OMG it was crazy. needless to say, no I could not use them and I am praying that Publix has a bogo sale before these coupons end. that is great you lucked out, me not so lucky 🙁

  3. The Dove deal does NOT work in Upstate SC. —Buy two hair care at $3.50 and get back $2 instantly. Was suppose to work til 5/24.

    • Steve Pinski says:

Did you buy two while using the $5/$25 coupon? If so, that’s the problem. The $5/$25 coupon deducts a fraction from the selling price of each item and your two Dove’s were no longer the $7 purchase requirement to get the $2 instant savings.

  4. Steve I went to DG last Saturday night and had this experience. Monica had no idea what happened when she replied to my post maybe you can shed some insite because I was getting the Friskies and thought it might have something to do with the overage? Here’s what I wrote…

I just got back from DG where I had a bad experience. We have a brand new DG in my small town that just opened, this was my first time in there using the $5/$25. I am a seasoned couponer who knows the ropes but never having shopped at DG with a threshold coupon, it was a test for me and probably them. Needless to say, the transaction did not go as planned. I bought $25.60 in product wanted to use $14.75 in MQs and the $5/$25 DG coupon which would have made my OOP $3.85 first transaction the girl scanned the DG coupon first and my total came up $6.23, voided it re-rang it with the DG coupon scanned last it came to $5.13 voided it because the girl said she could override one item to be the difference of the $5.13 and the $3.85 which I was fine with because then it would come to my $3.85 price, well it came to $9.92 when she hit payment. Have no idea why because by then there were people in back of me and that was the only check stand open. So I just left. What do I do now? Any ideas? I really want to shop there but not like this. Thank you.

    • Steve Pinski says:

That is insane and I don’t really have any good advice to offer 🙁 I don’t know how the same stuff with the same coupons managed to keep ringing up differently.

      • Can you tell me how you gave the coupons in what order and if there were any issues with them at all like manually entered or scanned. Please…I am desperate to shop there now that they are in my town. Thank you!!!

        • Steve Pinski says:

OK…here’s how I remember it. When the cashier totaled the transaction the $4/3 digital coupon came off automatically, so make sure you are still over $25 after that coupon. The $5 off $25 was used next. I remember the Nivea Shave coupons beeping and they had to be entered manually. I don’t remember if the body wash coupon beeped, but a few other folks told me it was a beeper. (I just don’t remember.) Everything else scanned fine. (I was surprised the cat food coupons didn’t beep.)

  5. I stopped by DG today for the purple dot deal. Items are 25% off and you get an extra 50% off this week. I got pot holders and kitchen towels for 37 cents, wash cloths 6 pack for 75c and a cute decor pillow for $3.

  6. i went to my dollar general, got the nivea and the printed coupons didn’t scan at all. had the manager manually enter it. is it the same with you Steve?
