Update: Savings Catcher matched ALL of the deals!

I had a fantastic trip to Walmart today! I would have bought more stuff, but I only had about $70 on an AMEX Bluebird card and I didn’t want to spend a bunch of cash out of pocket. Hopefully Walmart Savings Catcher grades the receipt quickly so I can go back and load up some more!

I couldn’t find the Beneful Healthy Smile Snacks on the regular shelf, but I found four bags in a tub full of clearance pet treats and toys. They were marked $3.68, but rang up for the regular price of $3.98 when I scanned them. (That’s actually a better outcome because of doubled Savings Catcher earnings.)

Also note that the Craisins coupon had a limit of one per transaction, so I did two transactions so I could use two coupons.

If you want to learn more about Walmart Savings Catcher and their promotion where they double your earnings when you transfer them to a FREE American Express Bluebird Card, go here to read one of my previous shopping trips with a more thorough explanation.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used (Publix prices listed are based on my local ad, but Savings Catcher sometimes picks a different number):

  1. Why didn’t you use atkin’s BOGO coupon?

  2. Awesome Steve! I did not know how the savings catcher worked and had no idea about the bluebird amex card thing. I stopped shopping Wal-Mart after they d/c bogo ad match a few months back Thanks for all you do.

  3. Great job, Steve.

I may have missed an earlier post on this but I’m going to mentioned it here just in case it slipped by all of us. A couple of weeks back we (some of us) were told that SavingsCatcher was no longer matching Winn Dixie BOGO’s here in Florida. I’m not sure if that’s still true. I’m going to call them today to follow up. I was reviewing the FAQ section of the SavingsCatcher site and I came across the following verbiage.

Savings Catcher will match competitor BOGO deals in all 50 states and Puerto Rico as long as a price is listed. In addition, in the state of FLORIDA ONLY for Publix and Winn Dixie stores, the Buy One Get One free (BOGO) ad can state “Save up to” to be eligible.

FLORIDA only example: “Peter Pan Peanut Butter, buy one, get one free. Save up to $3.50.” will be compared as follows: Competitor BOGO “Save up to $3.50” means that each Peter Pan Peanut Butter costs $1.75 ($3.50 / 2 = $1.75). If the Walmart price for one Peter Pan Peanut Butter is $3.00, you would then get back $1.25 on each Peter Pan Peanut Butter you buy at Walmart ($3.00 – $1.75 = $1.25).

I’m pretty sure this is new, at least the part mentioning Publix and Winn Dixie by name. I had printed off an earlier version of it and it wasn’t there. So why would they update their FAQs on the website and the app if they’re not honoring it, especially right after the week they said they weren’t doing it.

Like I said, I’ll call in the morning but if someone else would like to do it first, please feel free. (I’m not really an earlybird)

    • OK, I called this morning and talked to a very nice service rep at SavingsCatcher and explained to her about the new wording on the FAQs section of the website. She even pulled it up and read it back to me. She stated that there were a lot of changes going on there and that this was probably a response due to the volume of calls they received about no longer honor Winn Dixie BOGOs. So that’s a positive.

So if you want to try it out or something small go ahead. I wouldn’t want to invest an entire shopping trip on it,

On the downside , the CS rep told me they are no longer honoring produce through SavingsCatcher. That seems to be covered by their “Non-Matchhing” policy.

    • Steve Pinski says:

That’s great if they are matching W-D BOGOs. It will take an amazing deal on something we regularly use to get me to try any of those deals right now though, since I don’t want to risk tying dollars up while trying to score as much as I can these last two weeks of doubling.

      • MauraFlorida says:

FYI – I called this morning to ask about the status of my Cesar, Frank’s, and Wise disputes from a Jan 24 receipt. The woman I spoke to checked my account and said the corrections to the Publix BOGOs for those items have been approved but that it takes 14 calendar days from the time the correction is approved until the money is transferred to the customer’s account.

My corrections for those items were approved on February 2, 3, and 4, so I should get the money for those all those corrections by next Wednesday, February 18.

Since today is February 13 and the doubles end on February 28, we should all realize that the money from any dispute we lodge right now will not likely be corrected in time to transfer to Bluebird. It’s worth a shot for a great deal, and maybe they’ll speed things up knowing that the Bluebird deadline is approaching, but keep the 14 day delay in mind.

        • Steve Pinski says:

Wow, that’s good to know (even though it sucks.) Thanks for sharing. I think I will be buying one pair of each deal I want to do and test next week. The good news about the other day is that I only bought items that we will use, so if I get the Publix BOGO price at a later date and it doesn’t double, it won’t kill me.

However, I’m going to proceed with caution if a deal is one I wouldn’t otherwise do without the doubling.

          • Just received this email from SavingsCatcher

            Dear Customer,

Thank you for using Savings Catcher. We wanted to share with you an update on some changes to the program. Beginning February 14, 2015, we are removing some departments consisting mostly of items that do not have a like for like match at other retailers, such as produce and bakery items. Additionally, we are limiting our comparisons to offers of other mass market retailers, grocery and dollar stores, removing comparisons with drug stores.

Thanks again for using Savings Catcher and shopping with us. We are dedicated to providing customers like you with Everyday Low Prices. It’s a mission we’re proud of and we’ll continue to work hard to deliver for you.

For details on these and other changes, please visit our Terms of Use or FAQs.

          • Steve Pinski says:

Just got it too. Going to put together a post for first thing tomorrow. We’re all scheduled up for the evening.

    • I’ve been getting matches on Aldi produce pretty regularly. I just got strawberries and bananas matched from a Tuesday purchase, and Wednesday I purchased 3lb gala apples and 4lb Navel Oranges, both of which have matched in the past.
I purchased Community Coffee back in December, which was matched to a Winn Dixie bogo (one of two WD bogos I ever had matched). This week it’s on bogo again, so I had to give it a try. I also purchased the coffee on Wednesday, so I should know this weekend what matched or didn’t match.

      • Steve Pinski says:

Do me a favor and let me know if the Community Coffee matches. I like that brand and have very little left. The produce change may be new, so let us know once you get your results.

        • Already got results from 2/11 purchase. Community Coffee matched! I’m not sure this means other Winn Dixie bogos will work, but this one’s pretty hot. .80 MM on 2 with $4/2 coupon (SS 01/04/15) or $1.60 each without coupon. (This was in Orlando)

COMM CAFÉ SPECL GRC Walmart $12.76 ($6.38 ea)
          Qty: 2.00 Winn Dixie $7.98 ($3.99 ea)
          you got back $4.78

My produce also matched, but I guess that’s out the window from now on. I also noticed Aldi, in addition to CVS and Walgreens, was no longer listed in the “I found a lower price” listing.

      • I got a few Community Coffee today in Orlando…nice to know it should be a match for wd bogo! Thanks for the info!!

  4. i live in illinois and we do not have a publix here. so i can’t do the price match here?

    • Monica Bragg says:

You can do it with your other stores that you have.

    • MauraFlorida says:

Savings Catcher compares the prices of qualifying items you buy at Walmart to the advertised sales of major retailers in the vicinity of the Walmart you shopped in. You won’t get a match to Publix sales in an Illinois Walmart because there aren’t any Publix stores in Illinois.

The easiest way to find out what retailers are considered competitors to your Walmart in Illinois is to download the Savings Catcher app to a mobile device, sign up for the Savings Catcher program, buy something cheap (like a package of ramen noodles for $0.15 or so), and upload the receipt to Savings Catcher using a mobile device. After you submit the receipt, the names of the retailers Savings Catcher compares prices to for that Walmart will flash across the screen.

      • I actually write down the competitors to each walmart that I go to when I upload the receipt because you can only see the competitors the one time right after you upload the receipt. That way when you are shopping at each walmart you have a list of which stores that particular walmart will match.

        • MauraFlorida says:

You can also see a competitor list after you receive the results.

Log into your account using a PC
          Click Contact Us
          Click A Receipt I Submitted
Select the receipt you want to check
From the drop-down menu, choose “I found a lower price for an item on this receipt”
Click any item on the receipt
Click “Select a store,” and the list of retailers that qualify for matching at that Walmart location will appear as options

  5. Question: With Savingscatcher, could I do 4 bags of the BOGO cat food at a time? Or does it only catch 1 bogo price match at a time, so I should do 2 each transaction?

    • Monica Bragg says:

You can do multiples and it should match them.

      • Thank you 🙂

        • Monica Bragg says:

          You’re welcome!

          • OK.. am doing the thing where I rub my hands together gleefully while I wait for SCatcher..
Got 12 Beneful treats to give to neighbors (forgot to give my Qs. Going back tomorrow!)
Will be a $20.40 MM if my math is right?!
Got 8 bags of cat food.. Will be a $8.00 MM (Used 8 $1/1)
Got 8 Atkins (no pizzas).. Will be a $3.92 MM. (Used 4 $1/2)

Mamma gonna be ROLLIN’ IN IT if all goes well! Thank you SO MUCH for this post!

          • Steve Pinski says:

The Benefuls won’t be a moneymaker without coupons. They will cost about $0.30 each.

          • Yep, taking the Qs back on the Benefuls. I have 6 in my purse NOW. Didn’t at the time.
Side note, STILL Waiting on savingscatcher.. it’s been since Friday morning! UGH!

          • OH MY GOLLY DAY. On a $165 receipt.. they just finally responded and found..
            $12.56.
The craisins and 6/12 bags of beneful.

NONE of the atkins (8, meals with the correct size, no pizzas!)
NONE of the cat food (8 bags!)
NONE of the other beneful (6 bags!)

I am disputing EACH of the 8 atkins and everything else but UGH, I am fearful they won’t get back to me in time to turn around AGAIN to give them a copy of the ad so I can get it matched and double it back.
I am fully prepared to return it ALL, unfortunately.
So disappointed. Cross your fingers for me I make it in time for the BB double. 🙁 🙁 🙁

          • Steve Pinski says:

            That completely sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I realize FL and GA work out their BOGO Publix deals differently, but even though I may not get the highest sale prices you recieved, would this scenerio still work for me to an extent? Thanks and God bless 🙂 this is awesome. I use both Bluebird and Savings Catcher, but have never tried a BOGO Publix sale before…don’t want to bother if it’s not going to be worth it. Thanks again…have a great weekend. Really appreciate all you guys do…honestly…:)

    • Monica Bragg says:

No, outside of Florida Savings Catcher WILL NOT match any BOGO deals.

      • MauraFlorida says:

Savings Catcher will match BOGO sales everywhere if there is a firm price listed for the item you are paying for (for example, Buy One for $x.xx, get one free). The Florida exception is for advertised BOGO sales with “Save up to $x.xx” pricing, where the actual price of the one you are paying for is not firmly stated in the ad. Since Publix BOGOs have “Save up to $x.xx” pricing in Georgia ads, a Publix BOGO will not be matched by Savings Catcher in Georgia. It has nothing to do with how the BOGO works (half price or true BOGO) and everything to do with how the BOGO is worded in the ad and where the Walmart is located (Florida or anywhere else).

Here is the most recent explanation from the Savings Catcher website:

        • I may have to test that. Quite a few ads list “price without card” and that’s not “Save up to.” It’s always worried me though, lol.

  7. What is the difference in FL transactions that cannot be done in Ga ?

    • Monica Bragg says:

Outside of Florida Savings Catcher WILL NOT match any BOGO deals.

    • I think it might have to do with the fact that Publix stores, are one of Walmart’s biggest competitors here in Florida (as this is the home base of Publix).
And because of that, Walmart wants the business that is usually given to Publix.

      That’s my opinion, anyway 🙂

  8. MauraFlorida says:

My Pedigree dog food was denied from a Feb 11 receipt, and from what I’ve read, no one got a match on Pedigree. It’s going back since it’s too late to dispute and get the money in time to double.

I am on pins waiting to see what will be matched from my Feb 12 purchases.

    Morningstar Farms
    Fancy Feast
    Dole Fruit Cups
    Right Guard
    Craisins
    LOL Butter
    Kashi
    Mentos
Beneful Healthy Smile treats (found some)

I hope we’ll all share our results as soon as we get them. My results for Thursday purchases should be in tomorrow.

    • Here’s my results from Feb 12 Orlando shopping (all Publix bogo items):

Matches-Fancy Feast 3lb cat food(all 3 varieties); Morningstar Farms Veggie Dogs,Corn Dogs,Chik Patties Original; Atkins Mexican Chicken,Sesame Chicken,Burgundy Beef Stew; Al Fresco Dinner Sausage (both varieties they had); Dole Fruit Bowl 4 pk(3 different varieties); Beneful Healthy Smile Ridges Large 8.4 oz UPC 001780015466; Prego; Arnold Bread; Right Guard ID5; BD Almonds Roasted and Salted, and Toasted Coconut…; Palmolive 25oz(Antibacterial and Oxy)

Not Matched-Beneful Healthy Smile Ridges SM/MED 7.4 oz UPC 001780015468,South Beach Diet Snack Bars-Whipped Chocolate Almond UPC 085591900370;Arm &Hammer 75 oz For Sensitive Skin UPC 003320009331

I’m happy with the results. Hope this helps.

  9. MauraFlorida says:

I got my Feb 12 results:

    Correct matches on these:

Craisins original 5-oz bags and 6-oz snack boxes
    Dole Fruit cups (diced peaches)
    LOL Butter, 8-stick
    Morningstar Farms (original chickn patties)
Right Guard (xtreme gel fresh scent)
    Kashi Cereal (Go Lean)
Purina Fancy Feast (filet mignon with seafood one)
Dole Fruit no sugar added (diced peaches and pineapple)
    Mentos car cups (spearmint)

No match on Beneful Healthy Smiles small/medium meaty ridges, so I will be returning those and will buy the large ones that JimB bought if I can find them at the store. If I can’t find, I will return.

    Hooray for mostly correct matches!

  10. Just got a results from Savings Catcher, to my surprise there is no match for cat food “Filet Mignon with seafood and shrimp” and ” With Ocean Fish And Garden Greens”.
Should I return it , or start a dispute with the customer service?

    • Monica Bragg says:

It would probably be easier to return it because if you dispute it and they don’t immediately recognize it then you may not get your Bluebird double.

    • MauraFlorida says:

Ewa, take them back to the store as soon as possible, explain to CS that the person who reviewed the receipt missed the match, rebuy them, and submit the new receipt. You will NOT get a correction in time to double the savings if you simply dispute it.

I got a match to exactly one of the varieties you bought:

      FF GG FLMGN 3LB
      Qty: 6.00
      Walmart $44.28 ($7.38 ea)
      Publix $22.14 ($3.69 ea)
      You got back $22.14

Some of the people who review receipts are either very sloppy or not bright, I had to dispute all five varieties of the Cesar dog food trays I bought (sirloin, turley, porterhouse, filet mignon, and chicken/veal), and one of the responses I got to my request for a price correction is that Savings Catcher doesn’t price match items in “that department.” I had to write back to point out that the item in question is a container of dog food, not a meat department item, and I included photos of the actual products.

      • Ewa Morgan says:

That’s exactly what I have done this afternoon, hoping for a better results this time 🙂

  11. Tony_Florida says:

I received a match on the Pedigree Puppy Food, but no match on the dog food…..

I also received a match on the Beneful Ridges, but did not get a match on the Twist….

No match on the South Beach for me either.

Still waiting on the Cat Food to process.

Walmart might be getting a lot of returns because the main reason for buying these were the SC/BB deal.

  12. Just rec’d a Savings Cathcher response, sai no better price found on BENEFUL HEALTHY SMILE DOG TREATS, even though I’m in FL with Publix BOGO this week. Have appealed their findings. Interesting how it worked for you Steve, and not in my case.

    • Steve Pinski says:

I have no idea. It seems that humans are involved in this process somehow, because some of us have gotten different results on the same items in the past.

  13. Steve Pinski,
How do you get the Red Plum inserts????

  14. I wish SC would hurry up and finish comparing prices on my 2/12 (late) shopping trip! It’s been over 12 hours since their 72-hour window was up… :/ (Actually, I did an extra transaction the same time to use an additional craisins BOGO coupon, and that receipt has already cleared. My larger transaction has not.) I wonder what’s causing the delay… Oh well. Maybe it will go through soon.

    • Has anyone tried using walmart’s “contact us” option on the SC site to ask about a delayed receipt? (From the FAQ section on SC: “When will I get my results back?
Savings Catcher will send you your results within 72 hours of receipt submission. As soon as your results are ready, we will let you know by email or through the Walmart app. If for some reason your results are not ready within 72 hours, feel free to contact us using the “Contact Us” button in the Savings Catcher section on our full site and the “Give Feedback” option in the main menu on our app.”)
Just wondering if I should try it or if it might backfire and cause even more of a delay…

      • MauraFlorida says:

You are better off calling them and asking the phone rep to find out why your receipt is taking so long. 866-224-1663.

        • Still no results. Thanks, MauraFlorida–I just called them, so we will see what happens now!

          • Still nothing… no e-mail like they promised, and no results either. :/

          • Finally got results from SC at about 9 tonight–almost 5 full days after submitting the receipt. :/ I’m glad they got it done before the end of the ad week, though. My Beneful matched, as well as the Dole fruit cups, craisins, and Atkins entrees.

None of the Fancy Feast matched for me, nor did the South Beach bars. I decided to go ahead and try again on the FF and one kind of SB bars–returned them all and re-purchased to re-submit to SC. I hope they match the deals correctly this time!!

  15. Can anyone tell me if they got the arm and hammer detergent to match ?
    Thanks
This is for Publix bogo in FL

    • I bought allot of the 75 oz. Arm & Hammer and none of it worked. I took it back and got the sensitive skin kind yesterday to see if it would work. As for now I have filed reviews for Arm & Hammer, Fancy Feast, Wisk, Pedigree, Sara Lee Snacks, Zest Soap, Mccormick Seasonings and the King cake Community Coffee.

  16. I did buy arm&hammer detergent on the 13th, waiting for the result. I bought today philadelphia cream cheese for the Winn Dixie sale 4 for $5 there is manuf. coupon printable of 1/2.

  17. It is for the brick 8oz walmart $ 2.38

  18. Arm&hammer detergent match. with publix bogo Fl. 61.25 oz not a match on the 75 oz and wesson vegetable and canola oil 48 0z did match too. Dole mandarin and mix fruit matched.

  19. MauraFlorida says:

I got my results from 2/15. Correct matches on more Dole fruit, Morningstar Farms, Mentos gum, Right Guard Xtreme deodorant, and Land O Lakes butter.

So irritating that my Beneful Healthy Smile treats were not matched. I got denied on four bags of small ridges that I bought on 2/12, but people were getting correct matches on the large ridges, so I bought four of those on 2/15. I made sure the UPC matched the one that was working for people early in the sale week.

And to make matters worse, I bought four more large ridges last night when I ran in for the cream cheese against the W-D sale.

People are getting very uneven results on pet food and pet treats (moreso than other product categories IMO). I got correct matches to the Fancy Feast cat food I bought on 2/12, but I know three people now who got denied on the exact variety I bought. I have two more Fancy Feast coupons, but I don’t feel confident enough to use them since everyone seems to be getting denied now.

    • My Fancy Feast cat food from 2/13 got denied, as well as my Atkins meals from that same date.
I am going back to the store today with just the receipt (as I already ate one of the meal and opened one of the bags of cat food). Going to ask them to refund me the merchandise, and then repurchase it so I have another receipt to submit today.

Can they not get anything right for us lately? I truly believe they are doing this on purpose, especially for the larger orders and items that will produce the greater refunds to the customers.

It is getting extremely frustrating !!!

BTW Maura – have you ever received your refund for the Cesar dog food yet.

      • MauraFlorida says:

I still don’t have my money for Cesar, Wise, and Frank’s corrections that they told me would be in my account by February 18 (today).

        • Steve Pinski says:

Grrrrrrr! This last round of stuff matching early in the ad – but not late – is very irritating. If they don’t match Round Two of Atkins I will be tempted to return them and make them throw them away.

    • I’m still waiting on results from 2/14 (about 8pm)… I wonder if they are being extra slow for everyone in this area (FL panhandle) right now, or what?!

I bought 2 flavors of FF on 2/12–the filet mignon and the savory chicken. Neither matched. I had a third variety on the 2/14 receipt that is still processing. Was really hoping they would match correctly & make my kitty happy! 😉

      • No matches on the 6 bags of FF from 2/14 either. I’m disputing it, but it’s not going to be worth keeping the products if they don’t push it through in time for the BB doubling. :/ (I actually do need the cat food right now, but it would have been a better deal to buy it at Publix with a $5/30 competitor’s coupon rather than at Walmart if I don’t get both the match and doubling.) I might end up keeping 2 bags if they at least give me the match, but not all 10 that I bought.

I called SC rather than submitting the dispute, so I’m hoping that might expedite the process. Only thing is, the person I spoke with says she doesn’t see even a “save up to” price listed with the FF bogo in the Publix ad; she thinks this may be why SC didn’t match it. If that’s the case though, it still doesn’t make sense that SC would allow the match for some as they did…

    • Add my name to the list – I purchased Fancy Feast Filet Mignon and Chicken/Turkey variety on 2/12 both were honored through Savings Catcher, bought additional on 2/15 and none were matched, I cant help but think that this is intentional on their part.

Pet food has to be a category they match or why else would PETCO be listed as a competitor for them?

  20. FYI: for those who still have today as last day of Publix BOGOs: dog treats which were match for me-UPC 001780015472 (scanned as BEN SML TWST but they are actually 8.4oz bags)

No match- UPC – 001780015470 (scanned the same BEN SML TWST but 7.8 oz bag) :))
