walmart 1-29So, this will actually be my first SavingsCatcher shopping writeup.  With mine I had been waiting to get my results before writing them, but it seemed like every time I did a big enough trip to be worth writing up, SavingsCatcher would be delayed and I wouldn’t get results until after the sales were over, which seemed a little silly to write up at that point.  And while this one was delayed, they still gave me in time to get this awesome trip to you before the sales were over!  My overall % would be a lot better if I hadn’t sprung for the Lays, (They account for 48% of my total paid!) but you so rarely see coupons for non-Pringles and I have an event coming up in March, so I decided to jump on it.  They matched everything right except for a mistake on my part.  I know there have been some issues with Publix BOGOs recently, but they seem to be getting better on my matches.

Definitely watch what stores are near your Walmart, as I used multiple stores in this trip not all Walmarts will have them nearby.

For those of you unaware of the Walmart Savings Catcher program: You can enter your receipt numbers at the Savings Catcher web site and they will look for sales on the items you bought at competing stores and reimburse you for the difference between the sales price and the price you paid atWalmart.

On this next one I messed up a little and grabbed two incorrect sizes of Pringles, resulting in a lower Walmart price (And non-matches) but I’m happy enough with the result to not return them.  I was actually a little concerned about the Canada Dry Ginger Ale, while it is a 7UP product it is not specifically mentioned or pictured in the ad, but they matched just fine.

  1. How does it work when its the kroger promo of buy 6? Do you have to buy 6 for them to match the final price?

  2. Hi. How do you find out if Krogers is a local competitor? And can you only buy one of the detergents or as many as you want and get the rebate for all of them?

    • You can buy as many of the detergents as you want. As for if Kroger is a local competitor, there are two ways.

If you have already submitted a receipt the easiest way to find the competitors is to log into the SavingsCatcher site, (https://savingscatcher.walmart.com/) click on “Contact Us,” then click on “A receipt I submitted,” pick a receipt, then select “I found a lower price for an item on this receipt,” and then pick an item. From there there will be a little scroll box that will show all the stores that SavingCatcher compares to for that particular Walmart.

If you haven’t submitted a receipt already, we’re not 100% sure. I just did some testing. I have one store with a Kroger not in range, the closest Kroger is 11.4 miles away according to Google. Then I tested from another store that has a Kroger in range, those two stores are 4.8 miles apart, so the best answer I can give you is the cutoff is somewhere between 7 and 11.4 miles.

      • I was told once that it’s 10 miles. If a store is within 10 miles they are considered a competitor. That wasn’t concerning savings catcher but it was concerning ad matching.

    • My Savings Catcher app matches prices at a Kroger that is 49 miles away. I don’t know how they determine what radius to use or if they use a radius. They don’t match any stores that are 49 miles away in the opposite direction of my location. Who knows? :/

  3. Do they match it or do you have send something in?

    • For those of you unaware of the Walmart Savings Catcher program: You can enter your receipt numbers at the Savings Catcher web site and they will look for sales on the items you bought at competing stores and reimburse you for the difference between the sales price and the price you paid at Walmart.

Even better, through 2/28/15, you can transfer your Walmart Savings Catcher rebate dollars to an AMEX Bluebird account and AMEX will double them up to a total of $599.99! (AMEX Bluebird is free and doesn’t require credit; it’s a reloadable card.)

      • MrsCooper says:

Do you have to buy the card from Wal-Mart or can you buy it from the AMEX bluebird website?

        • Wayland P says:

You can sign up either online or pick up one in Walmart. If you pick one up in Walmart, you will have a temporary card to use while you wait for your real card to come.

  4. Hi! I was wondering how do I get a bluebird card? Do I have to pay out of pocket at walmart? Tia

    • You can pick up a BlueBird card at Walmart, that’s how I got mine and I loaded $1 in cash on it and then when I got home I linked it to my SavingsCatcher account.

But yes, anything you match through SavingsCatcher you will have to pay for in advance at Walmart and then the app will price match it. Then when you transfer that money to Bluebird it will double.

  5. Hi, I was wondering if someone , somewhere , has written, or could write out an outline, blow by blow directions for “newbie” couponers on how SavingsCatcher works, how you transfer it to the Bluebird account, how long it all takes…just a simples outline. I’ve been couponing for awhile and it’s confusing to me, so I know it must be very confusing for some who maybe are just getting into couponing. You can also use this system to go along with Walmart’s gift cards you get from Swagbucks, if you want to take it a step farther. I would appreciate it, as I’m sure others would as well…thanks and God bless…have a great week…keep couponing, and thanks Steve and Monica for all your cool trips you posts…

    • Steve Pinski says:

We don’t have a post like that. I really don’t recommend these deals for newbies anyways. It takes a lot of nerve to do these deals, deal with mistakes they make grading receipts, possibly returning some items, etc.
