Walgreens 2/8 (Wayland) – $34.41 PROFIT on $177.00 Worth of Merchandise (119.4% Saved)

NEVER MISS A HOT DEAL! SUBSCRIBE TO OUR DAILY EMAIL NEWSLETTER!

wags 2-8Sunday has become marathon shopping day for me and I am one exhausted human being.  But just wait until you see the deals!  I had several beepers going on today, despite following the rules.  It seems that if I get more than one Nivea BOGO deal in a transaction, at least one would end up beeping on me.  Luckily I had great cashiers and they had no problems overriding when the coupons beeped.  I rolled all my Register Rewards I earned last week, except for $10 I plan on using to pick up some chicken at Harris Teeter tomorrow.  As usual, I’m including Balance Rewards at $1.25 per 1000 because I’ve been saving them for the big $50 rewards!  The transactions below are spread out across several different stores, so I wouldn’t take too much from any one store and leave some stock for others.  (And because of this, the prices might not be exactly the same from one transaction to the next.)

  1. How do you get those e-coupon?

    • I logged into my Walgreens account on my app on my phone and loaded a bunch last week.

      • I’ve been hesitant to load MQs to my card because I feared it would mess with the threshold amounts like the booster. Have you found that to happen or not?

  2. This is an awesome shopping trip! I’m assuming you rolled the Register Rewards but how many balance reward points did you earn altogether?

  3. Seems..
Ever since Wags changed their registers to where you can’t use a coupon on a free item…
The registers won’t let you use a coupon on a HALF price item either. Sometimes the coupon won’t even beep. It just doesn’t subtract the coupon.
    Coding problem?

Disclaimer: I have not read the entire coupon policy. Even I am not that bored.

    Happy Monday

    p.s.
Get the 2.6 Nivea Soft CremeTUBE for two free after sale, coupon and points.

  4. Seems like walgreens is the store for this week. All those great deals and points. Our store however gives 5000 points if you spend 10 on colgate selected items. I haven’t done any shopping but hopefully I will get it.

    • Steve Pinski says:

There are two Colgate deals in the ad, a Register Rewards deal on some items and a points deal on some others. You may want to thumb through your local ad again before you shop 🙂

  5. Ingrid Taylor says:

What is a point booster? And where do you get it. I got the 5k pt email on $30, but no booster.

What’s the Big 50 you keep speaking of?

How do you use RR at Harris Teeter for chicken?

    Lol, don’t judge!

    • The points booster is the email you got, the subject states “New Points Booster Coupon | Get 5,000 Points”

Balance Reward points are worth $1 per thousand points when redeemed for in 5,000 and 10,000 increments, but you can get $50 for 40,000 points making points worth $1.25 if you save up for a big transaction.

Harris Teeter will accept Register Rewards under their coupon policy, “If a coupon is marked as a Manufacturer’s Coupon, we will accept it even if it comes from a Catalina coupon machine. Example: If the coupon is from Target, Food Lion etc. and has “Manufacturer’s Coupon” printed on the coupon it is acceptable.”

  6. im not to familiar with Walgreens points, what do you with them? Are they like cvs bucks?? Can you use them to pay for your transaction? Sorry so many questions lol

    • Balance Reward points are worth $1 per thousand points when redeemed for in 5000 and 10,000 increments, but you can get $50 for 40,000 points so saving up points is worth the effort.

You can redeem them on any transaction; however, you cannot earn and redeem points in the same transaction, so if you are expecting to get points from a purchase, it is suggested not to redeem any.

  7. The Points Booster coupon says “offer is valid up to 1 use per transaction and 1 limit use per customer account from …..” I don’t understand how you can do four transactions, non of which are $30, and still get the 5,000 points. I’ve never seen the registers to accumulate multiple transactions, then pop out points on the total. Then to do it multiple times on your user account seems to violate that 1 use per customer account rule. How can this work? I’d love it if it did, but it seems like it is prohibited.

    • That’s weird the one they sent me via email doesn’t have that. It just says, “Offer valid Sun. 2/8/15 – Tues. 2/10/15 on purchase of $30 or more. Points earned on single transactions only. Restrictions apply. See stores or Walgreens.com for details, including terms and conditions. Points good on next purchase. Points are not earned if Store Credit or Redemption Dollars are used in a single transaction and cannot be redeemed on some items. Complete details at Walgreens.com/Balance.”

Since they said single transactions plural, I took that to mean the $30 had to be in any given transaction. I figured any other restrictions and the folks in the store would let me know since it said see in store.

As for the spending less than $30 part, I did spend $30 in each transaction, part of the payment though was in coupons. If you watch the Walgreens total things up on the credit card machine, it lists the amount tendered as including your coupons.

      • Thanks for your posts about shopping trips and upcoming deals, Wayland! I just found them in past few weeks, and have used them to increase my savings at the drug stores. Have been doing similar all along, where I often make money on my transactions, but have gotten some extra insights from you, and links for some coupons online. Unfortunately I have not gotten overage from coupons when they are higher in value than the sale price I am paying, due to new cash registers! Their register programmers must have caught onto what was happening. They beep and clerks are not able to override at Walg and CVS.

As I read through your 4 transactions this week at Walg, I too, along with Barbara, was wondering how you were able to get four $5 Balance Rewards point boosters. When I read the coupon printed on front cover of store ad, I figured that the part that said “offer is valid up to 1 use per transaction” meant that regardless of whether I spent $31 or $61 or $91, I would only earn 5000 bonus points total on the transaction, and they would not multiply points into 10,000 or 15,000 for higher dollars spent. And I figured that ” 1 limit use per customer account …” meant that I could only have the coupon scanned once over the three days to earn points on my blue Balance Rewards card account. I would expect since it is all tied to the Rewards card, that the system would not accept coupon the next times. Surprised your went through, based on what it said.

I saw they are changing the rules. Has anyone seen what they are changing? They have so many different types of programs going on at once, wonder what the new plan will be.

        • I thought the same thing, you do so good on your transactions, but I also thought I could only do one $30 or more transaction based on the coupon said limited to one per account. So, I have never tried to do more than one with that 5,000 bonus coupon. Also, be so careful everyone, if you ever need to exchange anything, not return even, just exchange something same price, the order sees it and it will cancel all of your bonus points you got for that transaction (well, the 5,000 one anyway)….read the small print and it tells you that on the terms and conditions. I never new that. Walgreens was kind once and did reissue my 5,000 points, but now I know, becareful…..Another tip is, if you do decide to cash out all your 40,000 points, try to always do that on one item, maybe a bigger, over $50 type item, then if you happen to need to return it, they will issue you a Walgreen’s instore credit on a gift-type card for your return using your points. This is handy to know, and is in their terms and conditions also. Then you don’t have to worry about your points all being messed up and getting less value for stuff because you returned an item that was say $20…..Just a tip I have found out……

  8. Wayland,
How’d you qualify for the reward for $10 spent on oral care in 1st transaction? I only see $6 of toothpaste. Did I miss something?

    • As I stated just above the e-coupon:

“I have no explanation on why this next coupon went off. But it did. Maybe it something above was incorrectly classified as Oral Care.”

  9. The Nivea jip balm probably triggered as oral care.

  10. lip balm is what I meant to say.
