American Express Delta Credit Card – 30K Miles Bonus, Priority Boarding, FREE Checked Bags, $50 Statement Credit + MORE!

Amex-Delta-Credit-CardBack in November 2014, I signed up for an American Express Delta Airlines credit card. They were offering some big fat sign up bonuses and I couldn’t resist.

I booked a Delta flight a few weeks back for a brief (on the fly) trip to Las Vegas. I received a lot of great perks because of my AMEX Delta. First, AMEX Delta cardholders get a free checked bag on each flight, which saved me $50 total on my round-trip. I also had priority boarding; in my case it was “Zone 1,” which was really nice because there was plenty of room in the overhead bins for my carry-on luggage. Finally, I received a $50 statement credit for purchasing a flight on in the first three months of membership. (They also offer 20% cashback in the form of a statement credit when you make in-flight purchases, but I won’t buy all that overpriced stuff!)

I also got 30,000 bonus miles (which is more than enough for a non-peak domestic round-trip ticket) for charging $1000+ in the first few months. I did this by charging every day items (in addition to that Delta flight) and I always paid my bill in full so I didn’t pay any interest.

So why am I telling you this? Well, to be honest…because they are bribing me lol. I got an email that said they will give me 5000 Delta Skymiles for every friend I refer that gets the card 🙂

I have about 55K Delta miles and I’d love to get to 100,000 miles so I can do an off-peak trip to South Africa sometime in the next few years. I have a few friends that live in Cape Town, South Africa and I’ve passed up on opportunities to go there in the past. Or perhaps I can sell them out and go to Australia instead 🙂

Now I’m over 50% of the way to the miles for an off-peak flight to South Africa and nine referrals will get me the rest of the way home. Want to help me (and get yourself a really nice card if they approve you?)

If so, send me an email I can have their system send you an invite when I enter your address on their site 🙂

Note that this card does have a $95 annual fee, but I haven’t been charged one. I’m assuming that it might be waived for the first year. However, if you never fly (or never fly Delta), you should pass on this card. However, if you are sure you will earn the miles bonus and/or if you fly twice per year on Delta and check a bag, the fee is more than offset. However, if you will be tempted to carry a balance and pay them interest, DO NOT take them up on the offer!

Still interested? Send me an email at Thanks!

FYI – My credit was pretty average when I got approved. This is one of their “easier” cards to get, although it’s not a slam dunk if your credit is shaky.
