I shopped the new ad at Publix today.  There weren’t many deals I wanted, but the Rachael Ray pet food deals are great if you have a pet or donate pet foods.  I was unable to find the lime-cilantro Rice-a-Roni in the two stores I checked, and since there was no shelf tag for this item in either store, I have to conclude Publix simply has not started to carry that variety in my district.  The Apple & Eve Quenchers are oddly inexpensive ($1.19, no sale tag, used to be $2.99), which makes me wonder if they are about to be discontinued.  I am curious to try the Suddenly Grain salads, and I LOVE Arnold Buttermilk bread (I tried it with a digital coupon for a free loaf a few weeks ago), so I was happy to see it included in the BOGO sale.  Neutrogena products are $2 off the entire product line, so if you have more $3/1 any Neutrogena coupons (no longer available to print), this is the time to use them.  I did not find any Neutrogena cosmetics at my Publix.  And take note that the Summer Grilling, Be the Best You, and Summer Hurricane coupons are going to expire in a few days (7/16).

I used a $10/$50 gas card coupon that is in the ad.  To use this coupon, you buy $50 in groceries and a $50 gas card and apply the $10/$50 coupon to the order.  I consider the $10 off to be a discount on groceries since I will have to buy gas anyway, so an extra $10 discount is factored into the total for the transaction.

  1. i hope you post deals like before, without having to redeem anything with ibotta, checkout51, saving star etc because there are couponers out there like me who doenst like any of those. i dont want to sign up with them.

    • Steve Pinski says:

If we think a deal is good and doesn’t require the apps, we still post it. However, we’re always going to present the best way to do a deal.

    • Maureen says:

Shopping trips are not really deal posts. They are a way to show other people what we bought at specific retailers, including all discounts available to us that we used.

Deal posts are different, but I don’t see why we need to post them without savings from cashback apps because this is a couponing website, and digital apps like SavingStar, ibotta, and Checkout51 are considered coupons by the vendors who offer them.

When we post a deal, we show the price with traditional coupons first, then the net price with extra savings from cashback apps. If you do not want to use cashback apps, then just look at the “price at register” cost for the item(s).

Example from my CVS shopping trip:

TWO VERY BERRY CHEERIOS, on sale $1.99 (reg. $3.83)
Get $1 cashback from SavingStar for buying two General Mills cereals
Used two $1/1 Very Berry Cheerios printable coupons (preclipped) or 6/25 SS
Used one $1/$4 cereal or breakfast bar CVS store coupon from Red Coupon Machine (for some)
Price at Register: $0.99, but received $1 from SavingStar
NET PRICE FOR ALL: FREE + $0.01 Moneymaker!

The price at register was $0.99 using two $1/1 manufacturer’s coupons and the CVS store coupon. If you don’t have the CVS store coupon, then you’d pay $1.99 for two boxes of cereal.
