UPDATE FROM STEVE 12/20: THE DOUBLE DIPPING POINTS NO LONGER WORKS. YOU CAN USE THE DIGITAL COUPON OR IN-AD COUPON, BUT YOU WON’T GET POINTS FOR BOTH.
Extra note added by Steve: I think it’s possible that the digital Points Booster coupon double dipped with the in-ad one and that is how a lot of these extra points materialized.
I went to Walgreens today to use the in-ad store coupon for 10,000 Balance Rewards points (value $10-$12.50) when you buy $30 in a single transaction. The $30 is calculated AFTER any Jingle Cash, store coupons or points redeemed. You can, however, use manufacturer’s coupons to get your total below $30 and still earn the 10,000 bonus points as well as any addition product promotion points or special bonus points. In my case, not only did I have the 10,000 point booster, but I have account-specific Balance Reward “Perk” coupons for 10 points per $1 everyday point, 20x points on Beauty and Personal Care, and 5,000 points when you reach $50 in Beauty and Personal Care. I needed $30 to earn the 5,000 Beauty Club points, which I earned in this trip. I earned a lot of points in this transaction because all the point bonuses overlapped.

Used one $1/3 2-liter bottles of any Canada Dry or Squirt any flavor printable coupon (no longer available)
Note – I didn’t realize this coupon did not include A&W until I was at the register and it wouldn’t scan. I was going to take it back, but the cashier read the fine print, said the coupon seemed to be okay, and entered it manually. I didn’t know what the problem was until I got home and looked at another coupon and saw that the fine print mentions A&W as a registered trademark, which is probably why she concluded the coupon was okay to use. Nevertheless, I am going to return the A&W for 7Up or Canada Dry when I return to use the 10,000 point booster coupon again (the in-ad coupon can be used for three transactions per account). So I’ll get the same deal with a different soda.
Net price for all: $2.00 (67 cents each!).
Here is where the trip gets a little confusing (for me, anyway). Walgreens does not itemize points earned for the transaction. All we see is a lump sum of everyday points and total points, and I can’t figure out exactly how the points were accrued beyond the 10,000 bonus and 5,000 beauty club. ETA – Steve is likely correct because I clipped the 10,000 point coupon in my account at the end of the week (the digital coupon to earn 10,000 for spending $30 was valid on Friday when I used it.) The cashier scanned the in-ad coupon that started today, so 20x everyday points for $32 in qualifying items, plus 5,000 for beauty club, plus the 10,000 bonus earned twice is just over 31,000 points.
Price paid at register (excluding tax): $22.96
Total points earned: 31,290 ( $31.29)
Register rewards earned: $3 Pantene and $5 Colgate ($8.00 total)
Cashback earned: $2 SavingStar and $2 Checkout51 ($4.00 total)
Total post-sale credits: $43.29
Value of merchandise: $66.87
Net for transaction: $20.33 Profit
Savings rate: 130.4%
Note: My earned points include 5,000 for spending $50 on beauty and person care, $20 of which was earned previously (the $50 in beauty and personal care does not need to be spent in a single transaction).Extreme Couponing Tip: You can usually get two prints of most internet coupons. To find them in the easiest possible way, use our preclipped links that take you right to the coupon. Then come back and click the same link to get your 2nd print. This will save you the time spent searching for the coupon.
