cvs-082816I had a great trip to CVS this morning. You’ll notice that I didn’t get my free Colgate Toothpaste. That’s because I won’t get my newspaper inserts until Wednesday or Thursday, so I didn’t have the coupon when I shopped. Honestly, I have a lot of toothpaste here, even after donating about 15 tubes recently. I also had very little time to shop this morning, but I was completely out of dog food. I decided to pick up a few cans to hold me over instead of making an extra stop today.

I got a $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks reward from the Red Coupon Machine today, so I’ve included those savings in the final statistics for this trip. I also received a 20% off coupon in my email on Thursday. The coupon is good on regular price items and deducted a total of $4.10 from these items: Calendula, Pedigree, Extra and Skintimate. Those $9.10 of savings ($5 Beauty Club and 20% off coupon) are not included with the items below, however they are factored into the final statistics for this shopping trip at the bottom of this post.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

ONE PUFFS TISSUES, on sale $0.99 (reg. $1.77)
Get $1 cashback from Checkout51 for buying Puffs Tissues
Used one $0.25/1 Puffs Facial Tissue 64 ct or less *excluding To-Go and trial/travel* printable coupon (preclipped)
Price at Register: $0.74, but received $1 cashback from Checkout51
NET PRICE: FREE + $0.26 MONEYMAKER!

TWO SKINTIMATE SHAVE GEL/CREME, reg. price $3.49

Used two $1/1 Skintimate Shave Gel/Creme printable coupons (preclipped)
Price at Register: $4.98, but received $5 Extra Bucks
NET PRICE FOR ALL: FREE + $0.02 MONEYMAKER!
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to these items.

TWO PEDIGREE DOG FOOD, reg. price $1.29 (ouch!)
Used one 30% off Pet Food or Treats CVS store coupon, received at Red Coupon Machine by some (including me) a few weeks ago (deducted only $0.64 – I think because of the application of the 20% off regular price items coupon)
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $1.94 (or 97 cents each!)
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to these items.

ONE GALLON OF MILK, on sale $2.79 (reg. $3.79)
Used one $1/1 Gallon of White Milk printable manufacturer’s coupon (this beeped and cashier entered manually)
NET PRICE: $1.79!

ONE TROLLI SOUR BRITE CRAWLERS, on sale $1.88 (reg. $2.77)
Get $1.88 Extra Bucks for buying Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers
No coupons used
Price at Register: $1.88, but received $1.88 Extra Bucks
NET PRICE: FREE!

THREE PACKS OF EXTRA GUM, reg. price 2/$2.50 (or $1.37 when you buy one)
Used one B2G1 ANY Gum CVS store coupon, received at Red Coupon Machine by some (including me) a few weeks ago (deducted $1.31 – a strange amount)
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $2.44 (or 81 cents each!)
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to these items. Normally I would not pay this much for gum, but I was completely out.

ONE CALENDULA BURN CREAM 1 OZ, reg. price $8.99
Get $6 Extra Bucks for buying select Calendula products (limit 1)
Get $3 cashback from Ibotta for buying Calendula Burn Cream
Used one $3/1 Calendula Burn Cream peelie found on product (some folks got $3/1 coupons in the 8/7 SS insert; fyi – the peelie beeped and had to be entered manually)
Price at Register: $5.99, but received $6 Extra Bucks and $3 cashback from Ibotta
NET PRICE: FREE + $3.01 MONEYMAKER!
***This deal was actually a little better than this, because my 20% off coupon applied to this items.

As mentioned at the top, I used a 20% off regular prices coupon I got via email on Thursday 8/25 and it deducted $4.10. I also received $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks this week. Those additional $9.10 savings are included in the calculations below.

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $30.99
Net Price Paid for Everything: $6.22 PROFIT!
Savings Rate (excluding tax): 120.1%

Another way to look at the trip is to completely disregard the Beauty Club Extra Bucks earned, even though they’ve never been reflected in previous trips when earned. If you do that, my profit was just $1.22 and my savings rate was only 103.9%

Extreme Couponing Tip: You can usually get two prints of most internet coupons. To find them in the easiest possible way, use our preclipped links that take you right to the coupon. 1. I was not allowed to use the 1.00 off milk coupon, it beeped and the cashier said that they had a new coupon policy.

    • Interesting, first time -two weeks ago, when I used milk coupon it was scanning perfectly fine – the coupon was sent to my e-mail when I submitted receipt with proof of milk purchase – I thought that it is one time use and even did not try to open and print it on another computer but when I saw that it is actually the same coupon but it could be printed again from another computer I did it but this time coupon does not scan… hmm

By the way, CVS $2 off colgate coupon from Red Coupon Mashine would not scan after manufacture coupon was scanned… the cashier had to override it…hmm

  2. I wasn’t able to use the $1.00 off either for the milk. Uggg!

  3. MauraFlorida says:

    Two Crest Pro-Health 1L mouthwash $4.99
    2 x $2/1 MQ IP (nla)
    1 x $2/$6 CVS mouthwash Q
    Received $4 ECB
    Net $0.02 MM

    One Colgate $3 sale
    $1/1 MQ
    $2/1 CVS Q
    Net Free

    One Elmer’s School Glue $1
    No Qs
    Received $1 ECB
    Net free

Three Wet & Wild gel polish $4.79
    3 x $2/1 MQ
    1 x $3/$10 CVS cosmetic, including nail
    Received $9 ECB

    One Puffs
    1 x $0.25 MQ
    Submitted for $1 Checkout51

Also used one $2 off any “personal care” emailed CVS Q.

    Total $5.91 MM

I forgot the Trolli and didn’t bother with the Boiron because I didn’t get the insert MQs and my stores won’t take the peelies or printables because they beep.

I also didn’t get the Skintimate because I really want the Schick Titanium razor paired with an Edge. I have $3/1 MQ for the razor, a $4/$10 any shaving items CVS Q, and a $3/1 Schick razor CVS Q. I should be able to get the $11.99 razor and $3.49 Edge for about $0.50 plus tax after the $5 ECB, but all my stores are out of that particular razor.

    • Steve Pinski says:

That is insane that they won’t take a peelie that beeps!

      • I noticed today a reason the peelies might be beeping on Boiron Calendula and Arnica products. The peelies are not necessarily for the product you are buying that day. Some of them are to get you to try another of their products later. I saw an Arnica Bruise cream with a peelie for Calendula cream. Writing was very tiny and I barely saw it was for something else. We are used to peelies being immediate on item buying.
FYI-NEW CVS POLICY IS IF IT BEEPS, CLERK SHOULD NOT TAKE COUPON. I AM LEARNING WHICH OF MY STORES abide by that, and which still might take it if it seems to match. No peelie for me on Burn Cream- they had all been stolen, and no ibotta, so skipping Boiron offer 3rd time in a row. My area must buy a lot of Boiron stuff and they do not need to offer us the rebates! Bummer!!

  4. Ken from Philly says:

Good luck with ibotta. I used a $3.00 coupon with Boiron arthritis deal last week and on upload of receipt the coupon use was flagged as a violation for the cash back.

    • Steve Pinski says:

I already got the cash from it and did a withdrawal yesterday too.

      • mary rinder says:

        Ken-
Must read the fine print at the very bottom of ibotta offers, as many of them say the rebate cannot be used with any coupons. Last week’s Scott toilet paper offers (2), disallowed coupons. And it will probably flag you if you use EBs from CVS, because they show up as a coupon. That has become a problem with some mail-in rebates.

    • That is strange, as no where in the details of the offer – does it restrict the use of a coupon (like some Checkout 51 offers do).
I would write back to IBOTTA and question it. I am holding offer submitting mine till the beginning of the month, as I have already met my Level 4 bonus for August (and now have a head start on September…lol)

Good luck with your fight !!

  5. I got the same items minus the gum and dog food and my 25% coupon wouldn’t work so he gave it back to me so frustrating

    • I also had 3 of the wet n wild that were regular price at 4.79!

      • Steve Pinski says:

Ahhh my area got $1/1 coupons for those instead of $2/1 coupons, so I passed on the deal.

        • mary rinder says:

    • Steve Pinski says:

I think at the end my cashier did have to override something now that you mention that.

  6. Amanda Barnier says:

My CALENDULA BURN CREAM 1 OZ had a $3 peelie too that had to be entered manually. The original price was $13.79 though! Paid $1.70 after coupon, extrabucks and ibotta.

  7. JODI KEENER says:

They took my milk coupon. Checked it and said it was fraudulent. I was very embarrassed this has NEVER happened to me before.

    • Steve Pinski says:

      What the…whoa

    • I’ve found quite a few cashiers lately have been throwing around that accusation. Twice now at Target they’ve accused me of copying my IP’s. I was so embarrassed but I was more offended than anything. They both said it was because of the way the paper feels. Huh? You can print a Q on T.P. as far as I know. I’ve gotten my paper free through store rebates at Staples for years now. Some is copy paper, some is multi purpose paper. It’s all paper!

  8. Michele McCullough says:

I don’t ever get percent off coupons or the 4/10 or anything in my email anymore. I figured they were tired of me racking up the deals every week and so they don’t send them anymore. but you still seem to get them Steve, how? And they are changing their coupons rules and being more strict!

    • mary rinder says:

I never got percent off coupons or $3 off $9 in email ever. Corporate told me to get a new card and I would get them then. Still never have. So one time a rep said she would send me coupons for 20% and 30% off. I said make it off all products, not only full price which she said it would be. She mailed them, and they were only on full price items. So I bought a lot of full price items like vitamins, supplements. After she rang up items it gave me $14 off, but as she scanned EBs, it lowered it to about $7-8 off. But I could not figure out why some EBs took money off the 30% off credit and others did not. They did not want me to cancel order and start again, and MGR was not around. Felt ripped off as lost the value of some EBs. Anyone know about using them to pay on a % off order? At Walg at least they tell you what you cannot use with certain payments.

      • Steve Pinski says:

Manually printed Extra Bucks, Beauty Club Extra Bucks and any CVS store coupons you use are deducted by the register before they calculate any percentage discount, regardless of the order they scan the coupons.

  9. mary rinder says:

How do all of you get the ibotta from Boiron? They have so many different formulas, and when you say to buy a certain one, my ibotta account always has the opposite ones in my offers. I do not have Burn cream this week, only regular caendula. 1-2 weeks ago I ot regular calendula from Walg that was supposed to me with rebate, and I did not have that one. Got Arnica Cream last week from CVS which I thought was supposed to have $6EB, but got none. Store was closoing so I could not stand there and fight it. I could not find it in paper. can anyone verify that? Thanks!

  10. Thanks for details Steve about % off discount.

  11. Milk coupon beeped for me as well but cashier entered it manually. Cashiers seem very frustrated as well as we shoppers.
