cvs-061316I had a great trip to CVS last night! I picked up some nice deals on almonds and cereal, plus big moneymakers on L’Oreal and Zantac. I don’t have my inserts yet for the L’Oreal, but the Weekend Warrior Bonus I earned from Ibotta made up most of the difference since I used the lower value printable coupons. My nose/ear hair trimmer died recently, so I was happy to pick another one up for only $5 after Extra Bucks. That’s pretty good news for all you who watch my video shows on the Couponaholic.Net Facebook Page.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

ONE L’OREAL ADVANCED SHAMPOO 25.4 OZ, on sale 3/$12 (reg. $7.49) – untagged inclusion; price check it!

If they deduct my $7.50 coupon from the rebate (which could happen), I would end up with a final cost of $0.57 for the trip, which is about 99% saved.

The Weekend Warrior bonus is still good through today, apparently. It says Exp. 6/15/16 at 12:00 a.m. I’m assuming that means tonight at midnight? At least it’s still showing on my phone app. I’m hoping it’s still on, as I’m 90% there.

    • Steve Pinski says:

Mine expired this morning, but sometimes these offers vary by a day or two by user. If you still see it, you’re good.

    • Ken from Philly says:

Steve, I tried to print that Zantac coupon on SmartSource but it won’t print on Google Chrome as “version 42 or later” doesn’t support coupon printer, and when I went to MS Explorer it crashed the browser and doesn’t bring up the Java applet or whatever is supposed to happen. Version 11, updated. Any clues what to do?

      • Steve Pinski says:

The only suggestion I have it to try Firefox. That’s the browser I use.

        • Ken from Philly says:

Thanks, I did it see my comments below. To add to the L’Oreal deal, Sunday ads came out with a $2, $3 and $2 per bottle (exp 6/25) so I think those who wait (and I also just got that $2 off beauty personal coupon today) with all the combined stack deals, this may be the best non-mail in rebate return of the year. $5 out of pocket at at cash register, $9 cash back, $6 ECB, + $10 for savviest ….

      • Sandra Wilson says:

I printed my from internet explorer. I do have chrome as well

      • ALISHIA says:

        use mozilla firefox

  2. hey i’m new to couponing so if someone could help me out that’d be awesome.

how do you do bonuses like weekend warrior and buying 3 product beauty/personal care products.

also, savingstar isn’t showing those deals for me. is there something i’m doing wrong.

    thanks!

    • i see the no longer available to load for the savingstar, so i guess that’s why for that, but i’m still not sure on ibotta

    • Steve Pinski says:

The SavingStar deals for L’Oreal are no longer available to activate. You must always activate all SavingStar offers as soon as you see them, because there are limited quantities available. If you do that, you can still use them if they are no longer available to activate but still not past their expiration dates.

You can see the Ibotta bonus offers by selecting bonuses from the menu on the app.

      • awesome thanks for the help :). so do ibotta, mobisave and checkout 51 need to be activated super early or they’re gone like savingstar? or is it just savingstar?

        • Steve Pinski says:

Activating early on Checkout51 doesn’t seem to help. Ibotta almost never ends an offer early either. However, sometimes MobiSave offers run out and you get 7 days from the day you activate it. If you see something VERY hot that matches a deal, you should activate their offers early.

Had a strange encounter with CVS on Saturday afternoon. My store already pulled tags (3 pm) and when I went up to purchase 2 L’Oreal for the $4 ECB deal ending Saturday, the ECB did not print and the receipt said I was 2/3 toward a $6 ECB award which was supposed to start Sunday. I complained, they actually refunded and repurchased and was going to reissue $4 ECB when it spit out a $6 ECB on the repurchase of only 2. So I walked away bewildered. I can’t stand CVS on Saturday, which is my best day to do stuff, and they make a lot of mistakes at the register at all 3 stores I have tried. I think it is wrong for individual stores to control the sale start and end, it used to be automatic at midnight.

    • I’ve had the same problem at my CVS stores with sales ending Saturday afternoon/early evening. I also have problems with sales signs not being posted as late as Monday afternoon. I had to go back twice after my trip yesterday to sort out coupons that the clerk had taken but had not been applied to my total – and they were CVS red machine coupons!

      • Ken from Philly says:

Kathy, I find myself having to be a “problem” in the line of customers as sometimes the coupons are rejected (like your experience) for no reason, they won’t take a beauty coupon for hair w/o an argument, and that changeover on Saturday issue, delays them and it’s “cashier to the front” over the loudspeaker. Once when I got a 500 ml Scope ECB deal a manager took the tag off of it in the isle after my sale as the store computer did not recognize it despite my producing the tag (and the ad). Screwed everyone else after me, I guess, but she manually printed out the ECB.

Hate to make this the B&C line for the day, but I had installed Firefox, installed latest Java, Java cannot verify, I tried printing coupon for Zantac and message finally comes up “Java and Browser version requirement verification is not successful!” I re-verified, had to respond to multiple windows, Java and Firefox is for the birds. It finally printed, took a good 40 minutes. Good luck with that SmartSource resource for coupons, more trouble than it’s worth….

      • Kristen says:

Kathy, I have the same problems here. I started going to a different CVS (about 10 minutes away) after a couple of major coupon issues that they weren’t willing to fix; the staff at the other CVS actually seem to try to get things done correctly, which makes a big difference. They also have a couple of couponers who are staff/friends of staff which also helps. The system on Saturday can be good sometimes and horrible others; I wanted to get some Kotex products this last Saturday; two rang up at $3.99 for the current ad and two rang up at BOGO 50%, for the upcoming week’s ad–very frustrating!

Ken, the CVS closest to my house (whose staff regularly screw things up) take signs down like that too, if the system doesn’t automatically print ECB. The manager told me if they manually print ECB they get “dinged”, so they try to avoid it by taking down the signs, even if it’s something clearly in the ad. :o/

    that cereal is soo good.

    • Steve Pinski says:

Haven’t tried it yet myself, but I’m glad to know it’s not bad. We have a few open boxes of other stuff we’re tackling now.

  5. Thanks so much for the heads up on the extra large bottles of l’oreal being included in the sale! After I read this yesterday, I ran, and I mean ran to my local cvs and couldn’t believe I found them! I purchased 3 big bottles of the shampoo/cond, and 6 bottles of suave shampoo/cond’s. I used three $2/1 for the L’oreal and three $3/2 for the Suave plus a $3/15 cvs shampoo red box coupon bringing my total down to $12-used $12 in ECB’s and got back $11 ($6/L’oreal, $5/Suave)! That must have been a glitch in the system, right, as I’ve never seen the big bottles included before? Anyway, I never would have thought to check that size so thanks again as that’s my favorite shampoo product!!! (The suave will go to my “poor broke 20 something daughter”) I love, love, love your site as I find the latest offers always here FIRST! You people are the BEST!

    • Steve Pinski says:

You’re welcome Bev. Glad you got a great deal. FYI – Next time make sure you watch the fine print on the Suave coupons. They usually state a limit of two. I don’t have them handy right now to confirm that, but I’m pretty sure that’s the case.

  6. I am so perplexed! The L’Oreal sale on the styling products has no been at any CVSs around me. They are all regular priced. Even the ad doesn’t state anything about the styling products being on sale. I scanned, and regular price!

    • Steve Pinski says:

Weird. My store had the stylers tagged and on sale. The treatments were regular price though.
