walgreens 2-8So, I ended up with a great trip to Walgreens yesterday.  Although I have to admit, it didn’t start off so great.  I went to a store I don’t usually go to on my way home from work.  I walk in and my transaction was identical to the first transaction listed below, when the cashier told me I could only use one of any printable coupon.  I showed the cashier that they weren’t duplicated, because they had different unique codes in the corner.  So he called the manager and the manager held to this story.  It wasn’t that this coupon was beeping, it was that they refused to scan it.  I could have made a fuss and gotten corporate involved over a $0.50 Juicy Fruit coupon, but I decided it wasn’t worth my time and I would just hurt their bottom line.  I told them I didn’t want any of it and would be going to a different Walgreens who would take my coupon.  Needless to say, I won’t be going back to that one.

The rest of the shopping trip went totally smoothly.  And I really hope that Ibotta for the Glade resets in the next couple days, because these two transactions put me at $14.98 towards a $5/$20 SavingStar one or many.

As usual, I’m including Balance Rewards at $1.25 per 1000 because I’ve been saving them for the big $50 rewards!  The transactions below are spread out across several different stores, so I wouldn’t take too much from any one store and leave some stock for others, because of this some of the prices may vary from one transaction to the next.  So here’s how it all went down.

  1. Hi Wayland

So, I meant to post on here about two weeks ago when this happened to me on the duplicate coupons at two different walgreens in my area to see if anyone else was having an issue. In both cases the cashiers said they were told by management they could not use two of the same coupons in any one transaction if the coupon says “only one coupon per purchase and any other use constitutes fraud”. So they are reading “purchase” as transaction vice item and I could only get away with using two of the same coupons in a purchase if the coupon has a limit listed per transaction. I also spoke to a store manager at one location and said other Walgreens have not told me this, but she held to that being their policy and what I was doing was fraudulent. So I am not sure if it is a “store” issue or “corporate” issue because I tend to frequent a few locations so that I am not getting these deals at only one location….but I may have to stick to one now that these others have not allowed me to make purchases using all of the coupons….hopefully it is not a corporate policy being pushed!

Thanks for all of the deals and tips!
    Tara

    • This wasn’t because of the one per purchase, this was one of any printable in my case, I guess they must have had some people photocopying them or something.

  2. we know more about couponing than many cashiers do! They don’t know about the unique coding, etc. They don’t understand “one per purchase” means one for each item, not one for each customer.
I try to be patient, let others go first, etc. as I attempt to educate but also get what I want.

  3. Can you submit the same receipt for one item to both ibotta and SavingStar? I purchased the Glade Automatic Spray Starter Kit and I want to submit it to ibotta for the $3 and also SavingStar to put toward the $5 back on a Glade purchase of $20. This is probably a silly question but I am new to ibotta and SavingStar!

    Thanks!
