Team Couponaholic now has a Shop Your Way Personal Shopper account! Personal Shopper is a little bit of a misnomer, it’s more like “Personal Deal Finder,” ‘cuz while ya’ll are great, I’m not shopping for you, shopping for me is exhausting enough! 😉 There are a few benefits though to having a personal shopper:

  • When you sign up, you’ll get a three month trial to SYW Max, which allows you to get free shipping on orders that are either over $30 or have a single item priced at over $10. There is no Credit Card required and it doesn’t automatically renew.
  • Most months, Shop Your Way sends out a few bucks in points to members who are signed up with a personal shopper that are valid for a couple of days. There is no guarantee this will continue in the future, but it’s happened almost every month that I’ve been watching. I’ll be sure to let you know in the blog and on Shop Your Way, when this is coming.
  • Personal Shoppers have the ability to send out store coupons to clients. What coupons are available tend to vary, but I definitely plan on sending out the best value coupon I can find to all clients on the first day of each Super Doubles.

To add me as your Personal Shopper, you’ll want to head over to Shop Your Way to sign in. You’ll then want to click *here* to make me your personal shopper.

sears-free-tire-rotationSo, this is a different kind of shopping trip than I normally do.  And actually, I’m noticing after the fact, I left money on the table.  So I thought I would share this with you all, so if you find yourself in a similar situation you’ll know what to do.  Lets start this trip with a story.

As I’ve mentioned in recent posts, this is a very busy time of year at my day job.  I’ve been pulling a ton of hours.  Since these extra hours are overtime, I didn’t want to pass them up even though I was due for an oil change.  So my wife and I swapped cars on Monday and she took mine in to get the oil changed at our regular mechanic.

Well, they checked out my car when they changed the oil and determined I needed new tires.  I checked the tires out when I got home from work and indeed I did.  But with all the busy-ness (With busy day job and Super Doubles and all) it slipped my mind for a day.  So last night, I decided to see if I could get a deal on the tires.  I was poking around online, when a thought came to mind.  I have a ton of points from those recent online Kmart deals and Shop Your Way sweeps, so lets see what tires look like at Sears Auto Center.  So, I go online to see what they have and their prices are actually cheaper than a lot of the other places I looked.   I figure since it would save cash out of pocket to use the points, why not!

So I go through the process of buying the tires and setting up the appointment online.  Well, when I add the items to my cart, the total drops quite a bit.  Apparently they are running a promo where you will save 25% when you buy four tires and get them installed.  Sweet!

I go to pay and I notice my points earned jump.  Apparently they have a promo when you spend $75 on, you get $20 in points!  Extra Sweet!

And I have $10 on a $30 Sears purchase in Surprise Points!  Triple Sweet!

Here’s where I missed left some money on the table though.  Ordering tires for Sears Auto Center is done through  If I had thought about it, I could have started at Ebates and gotten another 3.0% cash back.  I also didn’t think to see if there were any Shop Your Way coupons I could have used on this order.  (Looking at my Coupons, I had a $5 off $75 purchase coupon I could have used.)  So, I probably left another $12 to $13 on the table.

But here’s how it all shook out:

25% off when you buy four tires with installation and alignment. (Deducted $68)
Used (1) $10 in Surprise Points when you spend over $30 at Sears
Price at Checkout: $245.88, but got 22,382 in points earned. (Value $22.38) 2,382 for Paid Max Account and 20,000 for spending over $75 online with Sears
Net Price: $223.50

That wasn’t my out of pocket though, I redeemed $132.93 in points.  So it isn’t the greatest savings rate in the world and I left money on the table.  But I needed the tires and using my points to get them for < $100 out of pocket, makes me a happy camper.  The tires aren’t installed yet though, so you’ll have to deal with the Sears Auto Center photo for now. 🙂

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $323.88
Net Price Paid for Everything: $223.50
Savings Rate (excluding tax): 31.0%

You left nothing “on the table” – I had noticed Fatwallet has a tire exclusion for Sears, so I checked Ebates (which I don’t use) and saw this: “Cash Back is not available on layaway purchases, redemption of Shop Your Way credit, Sears Auto Center tire purchases”.

Interesting. I may have to go with TopCashBack next time. They don’t seem to have any of those exclusions.
