cvs-071215I had a great trip to CVS today! Stephanie’s card received a 30% off regular price items CVS store coupon in her email back on Thursday, so I put it to good use in the second transaction.

The Red Coupon Machine spit out a $5 Beauty Club Extra Bucks which I used in my first transaction, so there’s an extra $5 of savings in addition to what is listed with the individual items below. Those savings are reflected in the final stats for my trip at the bottom of this post.

I also bought some M&M’s on sale for $0.88 for my friendly cashier at my new CVS, so they aren’t pictured. However they are listed in the stats for the trip. I also bought some newspapers in the second transaction with the 30% off coupon, but I don’t list them in the shopping totals. (By the way, these 25-30% off regular price items coupons do apply to newspapers you may purchase in the transaction!)

So…here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

In case you’re curious. My four newspapers were $1 each ($4 total) minus the 30% off CVS coupon. I paid $2.80 total for them. So if you include them in my totals, I paid $1.16 plus tax for everything pictured (plus the M&M’s and newspapers.)

Extreme Couponing Tip: You can usually get two prints of most internet coupons. To find them in the easiest possible way, use our preclipped links that take you right to the coupon. 1. What’s the secret for still getting the percentage off coupons? They stopped sending them to me because I was saving too much.

  2. Stephanie says:

Can I use a $4/$20 beauty purchase, $5/$15 cosmetics and 30% coupon all in one transaction? If so, how much do I need to spend $20 or $35?

    • Monica Bragg says:

I would think it would need to be $35 since neither the beauty purchase or cosmetics coupon are off of specific items.

  3. Sherrie says:

Great trip!!!! Quick question. Why have some CVS stores chosen to participate or not (like the ones around here in NC) in the weekly sales ad? I checked with my store and the explanation was so the staff would not have “as much to do” on Sunday-for example, putting out stock etc. My store did not have any ad running this week and she told me they only have the monthly specials.
    Very confused.
Are they planning to have consistent sales in the near future? I checked their website and didn’t see anything on it regarding the change, maybe I missed it.

    Thank you,
    Sherrie

    • Monica Bragg says:

They are running a test market this week with select areas not getting an ad at all. They have done this in the past and it didn’t change anything in the future.

      • Sherrie says:

Thank you!!! The staff seemed a little confused too 🙂

        • Monica Bragg says:

It doesn’t happen too many times a year but this isn’t the first time they have done this.

          • Wayland P says:

My stores don’t have any sales either. 🙁

          • This really sucks. There are some great deals this week and none of the stores in Chicago are participating in the weekly ads this week. Looks like sales in Chicago will be flat. Hardly seems like you need a test to see that no sales mean fewer receipts.

          • Guess my area is the test area. All of Somerset, Greensburgh, Johnstown, Altoona, and Pittsburgh have no ads or extra buck offers. I couldn’t even get red machine coupons. Says I already printed them. Last time they were all coupons that I received the week before. No shopping for me. Manager was so nice to me because I haven’t been getting any email rewards even though I’m signed up. He gave me a 5 off 15. All store sales are poor this and last week in my area.

    • I can usually get the new sale paper late on Sat. if I am at CVS. I wrote on a different couponaholic page on Sun. that I found out after going to 5 different CVS stores in Chi. area on Sat. and Sun. that they were not doing ads here. No clerks/staff knew what was going on until the 5th store??? What is corporate thinking when they do not even inform their stores. No one was in stores, so lack of ads in newspapers was keeping buyers away!!! Think they should get the message, as those above said, that no cha-ching on registers this week in Chicago.

  4. Kristine says:

Wow what a deal, I didn’t know you could use two 30% off coupons (for the toothpaste) Good to know

    • Steve Pinski says:

Yeah, I didn’t know if they would stack like that. Had I known it would work fine, I would have printed two more toothpaste coupons and made a bigger moneymaker.

      • I realized one time when one was loaded on my card and the cashier applied it! LOL

  5. So can I use the $5/15 cosmetics coupon in combination with a red coupon machine $7/22 in physicians formula coupon? Thanks!

  6. Hard to believe this has happened in the past, couponer for over 8 yrs, certainly would have realized then what an uproar this has caused on the Internet

    • Monica Bragg says:

It has happened because I have been a part of the “test market” in the past.

  7. IS THE NUTS BLUE diamonds $2/1 still available ?

  8. I am sad printed my coupons all out and realized I am part of the no sales this week 🙁

    • I agree, only I’m more than sad. Looks like the stores in Chicago can schedule fewer employees this week.

  9. On the almonds, did any of the coupons beep? The fine print says one per customer.
