cvs-062815We had a great trip to CVS today! We benefited from a CVS register with an attitude. It kept voiding the store coupons at the end and the cashier and manager were trying to fix it. I can’t even fully describe what happened, except that when they finally felt they had fixed it my total seemed low. It turned out the $10 ECB I paid with was entered twice, once as a CVS Coupon and once as a CVS Manufacturer’s Coupon. The extra $10 deduction entered manually (and incorrectly) affected my 25% off coupon and reduced it by $2.50, so I came out an extra $7.50 ahead.

So I don’t make this any more confusing than it needs to be, I’m going to just deduct that $7.50 off in the final statistics and write up the individual items as if the mistake never occurred. That way the purchases are exactly as they should work if anyone copies them.

Note that we used a 25% OFF Regular Price Items coupon that Stephanie (my housemate) received in her email back on Thursday. This coupon was applied to the L’Oreal and Speed Stick items, but only on the price AFTER my $5/$15 Cosmetics coupon from last week’s Red Coupon Machine deduction.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

ONE L’OREAL QUAD EYE SHADOW, regular price $7.99
Get $5 Extra Bucks when you buy $15 of L’Oreal Eye (limit 3)
Used a $5/$15 Cosmetics Purchase coupon that printed from Red Coupon Machine 6/21-6/27
and used the 25% off regular priced items CVS coupon emailed to select cardholders last Thursday (deduct $2.99)
and used two $2/1 L’Oreal Cosmetics tearpad manufacturer’s coupons (at CVS some time ago)
Price at Register: $4.99, but received $5 Extra Bucks
NET PRICE FOR ALL: FREE (plus a penny profit!)

Get $4 Extra Bucks when you buy two Speed Stick or Gear (limit 1)
Used the 25% off regular priced items CVS coupon emailed to select cardholders last Thursday (deduct $2.65)
and used two $2/1 Speed Stick Gear Deodorant printable coupons (preclipped)
Price at Register: $3.93, but received $4 Extra Bucks

EIGHT CERAVE HYDRATING CLEANSER BARS, on sale BOGO 50% OFF $6.49 ($38.92 for all eight with sale)
Get $10 Extra Bucks when you buy $30 of CeraVe (based on my receipt, limit is at least 2)
Used eight $3/1 CeraVe Cleanser Bar coupons, 5/10 SS newspaper insert
Price at Register: $14.92, but received $10 Extra Bucks
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $4.92 (62 cents each!)
***These coupons were beepers.

TWO RIGHT GUARD BODY WASHES, on sale 2/$6 (regular price $5.29)
Get $2 Extra Bucks when you buy two Right Guard/Dry Idea products (limit 1)
Get $2 cashback from SavingStar when you buy two Right Guard Deodorants (excluding Sport) or Body Washes
Used one $2/2 Right Guard Deodorants or Body Washes printable coupon (direct link)
Price at Register: $4, but received $2 Extra Bucks and will get $2 cashback from SavingStar
***There’s also a $1/1 cashback offer on MobiSave, but I’m not in their program 🙁

ONE DIET MTN DEW 2L, on sale $0.99 (regular price $2.19)
Used one $0.24/1 Pepsi/Dr. Pepper 2L CVS store coupon, Red Coupon Machine 6/28-7/4
NET PRICE: $0.75

ONE GOLD EMBLEM ABOUND RICE CRISPS, on sale $1.99 (regular price $2.49)
Get $1 Extra Buck when you buy Gold Emblem Abound Snack (select varieties)
Used one $1/1 Gold Emblem Abound Grocery or Beverage printable CVS store coupon
Price at Register: $0.99, but received $1 Extra Buck

And there’s that $7.50 net gain from the $10 mistake less the $2.50 it reduced my 25% off coupon. That $7.50 is in the bottom line stats below.

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $94.74
Net Price Paid for Everything: $1.92 PROFIT
Savings Rate (excluding tax): 102.0%

If the mistake hadn’t been made, I would have paid $5.58 on the $94.74 of stuff for a savings rate of 94.1%

Extreme Couponing Tip: You can usually get two prints of most internet coupons. To find them in the easiest possible way, use our preclipped links that take you right to the coupon. Then come back and click the same link to get your 2nd print. This will save you the time spent searching for the coupon.

I wanted to know about the percent off coupons received from CVS. How can these be used? I have never been able to use the ones I receive.

    Thank You

    • Monica Bragg says:

You can use them on items that produce ECBs but are regularly priced.

      • At the CVS I go to they do not let me use them on ANYTHING they consider anything that has a promotion (ECB) I can not use it.

        Thank you

        • Monica Bragg says:

The register will take them without issue. You may want to try a different store and see if they do the same thing.

  2. Hi. i have 30% off deodorant so the gear deal will be better with it right?

  3. My CVS had the gear on sale but they allowed me to use my coupons anyway so they were money makers!

  4. Oops I was mistaken about my Gear being on sale but I did get to use my 30% off deodorant plus the 25% off. My transaction was:

2 Right Guard Body Wash ($3 ea)
    1 Oral B Power Toothbrush ($7.49)
    2 Colgate Total ($3.49 ea)
    4 12pk Coke (4 for $12)
2 Speed Stick Gear ($5.29 ea)
    1 Colgate Mouthwash ($6.99)

    Total $50.04
    MQ Printed Coupons: -$11

CVS Q: 30% Off Deodorant purchase & 25% Off $-6.78 (these applied to my Deodorant *computer stacked so it was like saving 55% on deodorant & 25% off Mouthwash)

Used $10 RB From Huggies Deal

    Out of pocket: $22.26
    Rewards Earned:$14
    Total after rewards: $8.26

I was kind of punching myself as I found $14 in Rewards in my glovebox this morning, Oh Well! They don’t expire soon.

  5. How do I get % off coupons from CVS delivered to my email?

    • Steve Pinski says:

You set up your profile online for your card and list your email address. Not everyone gets them, but each week they select some cardholders based on their spending profiles and send them extra coupons like that one.

  6. Does CVS accept % off expired coupon?

  7. Hi! I have a quick question…everytime I click on one of the preclipped coupon links it also selects 17 other coupons for me so then I have to go back and find and unlike all the other ones that I did not want. This happens on both of my computers. Thanks for all your help!

    • Monica Bragg says:

P&G is running a promotion right now and it is doing it to me as well every single time. After you print the first one it will pop up a screen at the end. That is where it will give you all of the coupons that preclipped that you did not want clipped. You can uncheck them all there. It has been really annoying since I am doing all the resets tonight and I am constantly having to uncheck them all.
