cvs-050515NOTE: The Nivea deal is no longer working on the $0.99-$1.19 tins.

Since Sunday was SOOOO awesome at CVS, I decided to make Stephanie dust off her CVS Extra Care Card and give it to me. Her deals were even a little better, because she hadn’t used the Glade offer on SavingStar, plus I was told not to bring any more candy bars into our house, even if they are only $0.03 each.

Since the Gillette Sensor2 Razor 2-packs were free after coupon, I decided to do an experiment to see if they would track to this week’s Buy $30, Get $10 Extra Bucks Gillette deal. (Unfortunately they didn’t count, but it never hurts to try when it only costs sales tax!)

Here’s what “she” bought, although I did all the leg work to get these deals over the past two days. (Note that I said “two days,” since the $2/1 Pantene Styler or Treatment coupons have a limit of four per day.)

  1. Wow great job Steve, glad you found the Glade and Olay here in the Miami area they all disappeared before Sunday noon. My local CVS’s allow 2 regular customers to clear the shelves and I have seen the cashier hold items behind the counter and let the 2 customers(family member) go to their cars and clip coupons and return. The managers here have even gone to the stock room to fetch items for them. It’s a disgrace to witness and these women turn around and sell these items. I have decided to report these stores to the corporate office.

    • Steve Pinski says:

That stinks. I actually went to two different stores to get the Olays. Guess because there were less than four available at each store, folks left them behind since they couldn’t do the deal entirely at one store.

  2. Hi Steve, I love seeing your CVS deals and I thank you for helping to save me valuable time by putting together these scenarios. I just got home from by CVS trip and I am feeling soooooo frustrated because it is getting harder and harder to do these deals especially at the stores in my area (MD). I went to purchase the Gillette Razors (2pk) and had no problem finding them in stock, however, when I tried to use the $3 off coupon the cashier (who by the way is also a store manager) would not let me use the coupon. He would not even scan the coupon to see if it would work, because he said that I could not use the coupon on the trial size. I tried to explain to him that there were no restrictions listed on the coupon but he did not want to hear it. I decided to comment to see if you have any suggestions because like I mentioned before I am running into these issues more and more. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

    • Steve Pinski says:

I don’t really have a good answer for how to make a cashier/manager follow the rules other than try to go over their head by contacting the CVS corporate office. That worked for me in the past with a problematic Publix store.

    • Jaime, I wonder if the regional manager has something to do with it. It is getting harder and harder for me as well and I’m also in MD. I mean I’m not complaining by any means I still get quite a few deals but the shelves seem to be bare no matter if it is Sunday morning or Thursday evening. (if its a deal anyway) Easter candy/items my store never dropped to 90% off like most other stores 75% was as far as they went and that took way longer than most stores as well. Lucky for me twice a month I have to travel for work to DE – no tax and a resort town so no one is couponing. Love those weeks too bad this isn’t one of those weeks. Great deals this week.

  3. Shelly says:

where did you find the nivea tins? looked everywhere and the store clerk was new and had no idea

    • Steve Pinski says:

On an end cap with other small health and beauty items. However, there are reports that this deal died on Tuesday morning and the ECBs are no longer printing on the tins.

  4. Susan Carter says:

I think these ideas and scenarios are great! But, we must remember the stores notice someone doing it and making money and they shut it down or the don’t order the stock. They are trying to keep us from making money.
