WAGS 4-12Today is points booster day, that always means a mad dash to multiple Walgreens.  My first two transactions went very smoothly, that third one had some hiccups, but I’m still happy with how everything turned out.  I’ll explain a little bit more about that transaction when I get down to it.  Due to some circumstances I mentioned in my CVS post, I don’t currently have access to a printer in the apartment I’m staying in.  A friend said I could come over and print some coupons from their computer, but it severely limited the number of printables I had available.  I took it as a bit of an additional challenge!  As usual, I’m including Balance Rewards at $1.25 per 1000 because I’ve been saving them for the big $50 rewards!  The transactions below are spread out across several different stores, so I wouldn’t take too much from any one store and leave some stock for others.

So I started off my transaction by grabbing the above items, along with this next one, although, it was an unmarked clearance, so I did not know they were not $3.99.  I also did not know they would not give balance rewards points because they were on clearance.

THREE IRISH SPRING GEAR BODY WASHES, on sale $3.99, on clearance $2.49, regular price $4.79
Get 5000 in Balance Rewards points (value $6.25) when you buy three Irish Spring Signature or Gear

And somehow, in my disorganization, I realized I didn’t have a deal in mind to finish the points booster off.  I was only able to get one of the Ponds printable coupons due to lack of access to my normal computers, and they were higher priced than Steve had had listed.  All I had left for the Colgate was $0.50/1 coupons from today’s paper and I cringed at the idea of paying that much for toothpaste.  I started poking through what coupons I had left and I realized if I got more Ziploc I would hit the $5/$30 SavingStar rebate.

TWO ZIPLOC BAGS, on sale 2/$5.50, regular price $4.49
Get a $1 Register Reward when you buy two Ziploc Containers
Get $5.00/$30.00 SC Johnson Products: Drano, fantastik, Glade, OFF!, Pledge, Raid, Saran, Shout, Scrubbing Bubbles, Windex and Ziploc; Must Spend $30 – SavingStar Rebate (exp 07/31/15)

So I head up to the register to check out, only to end up short of the $30 needed.  So I look over the candy and see these and grab them:

TWO SNICKERS BARS 1.86OZ, on sale 2/$1.50, regular price $1.19
No coupons used.
Net Price: $1.50

Only I was still around $0.50 short, so I see a deal on Reese’s so I grab one of those as well:

ONE REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS 1.5OZ, on sale $0.69, regular price $1.19
No Coupons Used.
Net Price: $0.69

Spent $30 on items above.

  1. Hi

Do we hand over the point booster coupon first?

    Thanks!

    • Monica Bragg says:

I always do any Walgreens Store Coupons first because your total must reach $30 after they have been applied. Then I hand over the points booster coupon, then manufacturer coupons.

  2. is there a limit on the Balance Rewards points on one card?

  3. Also, does it say your point balance on the receipt?

    • Monica Bragg says:

It shows your points at the bottom of the receipt and even how many you got in that purchase.

  4. This money making isn’t a real number unless you are planning to accumulate the points for $50 purchase.

    • Monica Bragg says:

We all save our points until they accumulate to 40,000. We can’t stand throwing $10 away 😉

  5. Monica, do you find it hard to come up with scenarios where use $50 worth balance rewards points? It sounds cumbersome but I’ve never done it so wondering if u guys have any tricks!

    • Monica Bragg says:

I never have a hard time coming up with scenarios. Here are the rules that I tend to follow. Either, I cash in points on a week where there are a ton of register reward deals so it is like I am rolling the rewards or I use points on a week where Coke or paper products are a great deal. Both of those will almost always cost me money out of pocket so why not use the points instead is my thinking.

    • I save them up until the holidays/black Friday when they have great sales on the toys, usually B1G1 or 50% off. Extra money is hard to come by that time of year so it’s a treat to essentially have a $50 gift card to use on presents for my two kids. Just a thought!

  6. I agree Monica. I have almost 80,000 points saved up and am hoping for a good register reward week next week. I don’t know if I’ll be doing any transactions with the points booster coupon. Hate to spend too much out of pocket when I don’t really need the 5,000 extra points.

    • Monica Bragg says:

I don’t do the points booster scenarios very often unless it makes a deal that I can’t refuse.

  7. Tried the glade, 3 irish spring and 3 colgate. Scanned the points booster after all the items followed by the coupons. It only gave me 5000 points for Colgate and 5000 points for Irish spring and the points booster cancelled because my subtotal came to less than $30. They even tried it twice hoping to give me the additional 5000 points but no go. I had to just void my transaction.

    • Wayland P says:

That’s odd. It worked at all three stores I went to yesterday. My highest subtotal was $24.22.

  8. Ann-Marie says:

Is the thru date correct?? Get 5,000 in Balance Rewards points (value $6.25) when you buy $30+ in a single transaction with Points Booster coupon (through 3/10)
