cvs 4-24So last night I decided to make another run to CVS.  The Almay coupon is expiring tomorrow and I noticed I was only $24 away from getting another $10 Extra Bucks for L’Oreal products, so I figured why not!  This was an interesting trip, I hopped on to see who had the Almay deodorant in stock and went to a CVS I had never been to before.  The cashier seemed absolutely befuddled when the Almay and the fourth Gillette coupons beeped.  Eventually, I convinced him to put them through manually.  But then I handed over my CVS coupons and he told me I couldn’t use them, because I already wasn’t paying for the items.  I said I had never had any problems at other CVSes doing so, but he didn’t want to hear it, so for the first time ever, I canceled an entire CVS transaction and went to another CVS.  I honestly was astonished, I have *never* had any problems at CVS and I can only think of a couple of times that the computer has beeped on me.  The cashier at the second store knew exactly what she was doing.  She put the Almay coupon in manually for the price of the product and put the last Gillette coupon in for the full amount, because in her words, “It’s only a couple cents.”  For some reason my CVS deodorant coupon beeped, and she said the register was just being dumb, that they should stack and put that discount in manually as well.  I would have done better, but the second store I went to only had one L’Oreal 360 Scrub, so I had to substitute out higher priced items.  Also to note, I am going to start including my Beauty Club ECBs on transactions I redeem them, (like this one) because I never think to count them on transactions that I earn them on.  And as long as I don’t count them twice, it all comes out in the wash, as they say.  (And I bought all sorts of stuff to wash with! 😉 )

  1. I did the same purchase with the Almay deodorant with the MQ and CVS 30% off Q. The CVS Q did not come off of the deodorant. Cashier entered it, but at the bottom of the receipt it said it said it did not apply. I noticed it when going through my receipt later. Should it have per their policy? I wrote it off, but I want to know for the future.

    • Wayland P says:

It should have and my cashier had to apply it manually. (When it is applied manually, it will still say it was not used on the bottom, because it is a manual discount instead.) All I can assume is the deodorant is somehow miscoded in their system or something like that.
