cvs-041615I had a great trip to CVS this evening! After writing up those Cheerios deals, I found myself craving them. This trip would have cost me $2.82 after sales, coupons and Extra Bucks earned, but this trip also put me over the required amount to earn a $5 Extra Bucks Beauty Club award too. (I’ve included those savings in the trip, so that’s why I have a moneymaker total.)

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

ONE ORIGINAL CHEERIOS 12 OZ, regular price $4.49 (some stores have these as low as $3.99!)

  1. CVS had 30 ct Claritin on sale for $19.99. I saw a package that had 40 for the price of 30. with the $6 off $10 on Claritin plus the coupon in Sunday’s paper for $7 off 30 ct, AND a $3 extra bucks reward, I scored a 40 ct box of Claritin for $3.99. 🙂 Stoked!

  2. whoops. $6 off $10 was from the magic red box. I left out that minor detail. 🙂

  3. Steve – did you get the Almay coupon in the local paper here? We live very close to each other and I swear I looked in my SS and didn’t get one of those. Maybe I need to check again?

    • Steve Pinski says:

No. Our company buys extra newspapers where Fred lives (Michigan) and he sends them to me. Unfortunately, that means I get coupons for all his regional brands though…like Brownberry Bread coupons instead of Arnold Bread. (Same company, different brands.) I also never get Publix store coupons in my inserts 🙁

However, I occasionally get lucky like with this Almay coupon.

  4. I tried to do the Cheerios deal at my local CVS, and the cashier (who was also the manager) didn’t know what Savingstar was. Is it optional for each CVS store to participate in Savingstar? (related question: Do you link your Savingstar account to your Cvs card and just scan that at checkout, or is there a separate card?…assuming I find another cvs near me that knows what this is.)

    • Steve Pinski says:

You sign up at SavingStar. Then you add your CVS card to your account profile on their site. Then activate the Cheerios offer on the SavingStar site. Then go to CVS and buy the Cheerios using your Extra Care card. Within 2-22 days later the credit will show up in your SavingStar account.

      • Thanks Steve! I actually went ahead and did that, even though they said they didn’t know about Savingstar, hoping that would be the case. Love your site and appreciate the work you do!

        • Steve Pinski says:

You will probably still get the rebate since they probably haven’t sent the data to SavingStar yet. Usually you should activate offers before you shop, but you MIGHT be ok on this one if you shopped in the last day or two.

  5. paulette owens says:

re: the Right Guard body wash coupon……… CVS absolutely refuses to accept any coupon with another store’s name on it as manager said they will not be reimbursed

    • Steve Pinski says:

I don’t have the printed coupon, but if it only has the store’s name and not the logo, they should accept it. FYI – It is not true that they won’t be reimbursed.

  6. The almay eyeshadow didnt add to my beauty club purchase and i purchase 12 of it?

    • Steve Pinski says:

When did you buy them? It takes a few days for the dollars to get added to your Beauty Club ECB purchase total.
