Family Dollar: FREE Era Laundry Detergent for some of you!

era-family-dollarWow, here’s a hot freebie some of you may be able to snag if you have a Family Dollar store nearby. Be advised that I did go by Family Dollar this afternoon to see if my store carried this size and they did not, however the manager has worked at multiple stores and confirmed that some of their stores carry this item.

Note that the coupon involved does exclude travel and trial, but this product is most certainly not “travel” sized, as it is three times the legal amount you can take on a plane. Because it is a six load bottle, it is not a trial size either. Here’s the deal:

BUY TWO ERA LAUNDRY DETERGENT 10 OZ (6 LOADS), $1
Use two $1/1 Gain Detergent, Gain Enhancer or Era Detergent, 1/13 SS newspaper insert
or use one $2/2 Gain Detergent, Gain Enhancer or Era Detergent, 1/13 SS newspaper insert
NET PRICE FOR ALL: FREE!

  1. I already tried these coupons with the 6 loads bottles… at three different family dollars, none of them would honor my coupons, if the machine doesnt take it they tell you its no good…I even had two managers coming and none of them would help….

    • Odd Karen had the exact opposite experience…multiple stores and no issues at all. That’s the way these deals seem to go sometimes.

      • Maria,
In my experience with Family Dollar you have to make sure they are not ringing up the items all at once, e.g. .99 x 6, if they ring up the item one by one the coupons should take. I always get something under a $1 that has no coupon or I use a coupon for an item like .50, .75 off one item, if I know my other coupon items will come out free.

        Hope that helps.

  2. Thanks!

  3. I found it up here in Dade City. Boy, you would have thought that they were asking me to give them a carton of cigarettes. I finally got a manager to do, but for 6 infinitesimal bottles of laundry detergent, I think I’d rather just go to Kmart and pay $2.50 and get 50 loads! Honestly, the hassle just wasn’t worth my doing it again. The clerk first questioned me as to whether had larger sized bottles of that.. she was sure that it wasn’t INTENDED for that size, etc., etc., etc. Basically, I felt like a heel, so I did get my 6 free bottles (36 loads), but I went to Kmart, got a 50 load of Xtra for $2.49 and they were happy to see me and for 5 cents a load, that’s my STOCK up price, so I did it.

  4. It did NOT scan and she assured me (the clerk) that since it did NOT scan, that it was NOT intended for that… :) I just smiled and was sweet… I think that’s why she finally got a manager to do it for me. In the meantime, about 10 people piled up behind me, making nice “not sweet” comments.

  5. I can’t even find the coupons, in what area did you find of the 1/13 SS? can’t find them :(

    Thanks,

    Evelyn

    • Look for the Gain coupons and then read them. They were in the bottom right corner of a page. (The words on the coupon include Era.) Hope that helps :)

  6. I just bought 16 bottles and only paid $.96 in tax. That’s 96 loads of detergent for a penny a load! :D FYI the $2/2 coupon beeped but the $1/1 coupon scanned as long as they rang up one bottle, then scanned the coupon, rang up second bottle, then scanned the second coupon, etc.

  7. My store would not take them. First tried to tell me they couldn’t take the coupon if it made item free. I told them they could it was in their own policy! Then they said they were trial size! Of course she said she could take one coupon for all 8 bottles, “IF” it scanned. Of course it didn’t, so they wouldn’t take them at all. I have never had a coupon scan at FD.

  8. Oh, by the way I agree with Rachael that it is not worth it. That is exactly what I just emailed FD and I called and left a message for the district manager.
