I had a pretty good day at Publix. I paid $48.03 for a $50 Gas Card and $70.79 of products, so it’s like I got all the groceries for free plus a $1.97 profit if you figure the gas was going to be bought anyways. If you exclude the $10 saved on the gas card, then you could come to the conclusion that I paid $8.03 for the groceries and $40 for the gas card itself. (If you compute it that way, then I saved about 89%.)

Here’s the full list of items bought, along with the coupons used:

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $70.79
Net Price Paid for Everything: $1.97 PROFIT!
Savings Rate: 102.8%

Again, I paid a total of $48.03 out of pocket for all of the groceries and a $50 gas card. That is how I come to the conclusion that I had a $1.97 profit on the groceries. However, if you consider the groceries and discounted gas card seperately, my savings rate would compute slightly differently.

  1. I also printed the sauerkraut coupon but just a heads up to all that in the fine print it says that a minimum $.75 sauerkraut purchase is required, although I am not sure if maybe you consider that you bought 10 as going over the requirement. I read it as a $.75 minimum for each item you were using a coupon for. HTH!

    • Wow, didn’t see that. Hmmmm guess I technically met the requirements since I bought $6.90, but that’s an interesting question. I think the 10 oz cans were only 89 cents, so still only 14 cents for a 10 oz can for those who interpret it in a more restrictive way.

  2. How many cookie swaps did you have to do before you were able to print your coupon?

    • None :) If I remember correctly, there is a “redeem coupon” button on the left hand side of one of the pages before you must “cookie swap”

  3. bad trip at publix. i was so excited for this week then i got to my store. i picked up the wrong nestle cookies ( they had to be the decadent to get the 1.50 off) then the qpons for the smart balance didnt match the bogo and theere were no tombstones left. i spent $38.33 and saved $66.24 but i was not well planned.. ok.. so steve i have a question though. if i find the tombstone pizzas, and buy 4( to use the $1.00 off of 3) can i use 2 target qpons or am i only allowed to use 1 target qpon

    • It will depend on your store, however if you stick to the wording on the coupon, you should probably limit yourself to one coupon if shopping alone. I don’t have the printed coupon in front of me, so I can’t confirm that.

  4. thanks steve! it does say one qpon or offer per guest. ok.. i guess i may have to bring a kid. lol
