10/31 Dollar General – Paid $4.75 on $16.60 of Merchandise (71.4% Saved)

I made a quick stop at Dollar General to pick up that Libby’s deal that I wrote about yesterday. I also grabbed some dirt cheap Frank’s RedHot. We go through a lot of products like Texas Pete and Tabasco and we were down to about eight small bottles, so I thought that I should pick up a few bottles of Frank’s.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

SIXTEEN LIBBY’S VEGETABLES, on sale $0.50 (regular price $0.85)
Used four $1/4 Libby’s Veggies coupons, 8/26 RP newspaper insert (exp 10/31!)
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $4 (or 25 cents each!)

THREE FRANK’S REDHOT SAUCE, regular price $1
Used three $0.75/1 Frank’s RedHot coupons, 9/30 SS newspaper insert
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $0.75 (or 25 cents each!)

By the way, after the first coupon for Libby’s all the other ones were beepers. I recommend that you do a separate transaction for each group of four cans to avoid beepage.

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $16.60
Net Price Paid for Everything: $4.75
Savings Rate: 71.4%

    Thanks for posting this yesterday as it prompted me to check and see if I received those coupons. Turns out I had three and I will go use them today and then donate the cans to a school drive!

    I went and loaded up on libby’s yesterday! Such a great deal. My DG also had to scan 4 cans, then use a coupon, scan 4 cans, use a coupon etc.

    When i coupon at dollar general after each item or items that you have a coupon for, let them scan it right after they scan each item. Not at the end! The cashier said that is the best way!!

    The cashier at the Dollar General in New Port Richey, FL told me that I could only buy 4 cans and could only use 1 coupon because the coupon states, “One coupon per purchase.” The manager was called over and he told me the same thing and added that I could use 1 coupon per item per day and that I could come back tomorrow and buy 4 more. Uh….I don’t think so! I took their ad to Walmart and price-matched it and used ALL my coupons! Really wish Dollar General didn’t make me feel like a criminal for using coupons!! :/
