Publix 7/26 – Paid $3.40 on $32.57 of Merchandise (89.6% Saved)

I went to Publix today but there wasn’t really much I needed to buy. We bought a ton of meat last week at Sweetbay and I am about to join my roommate on the low carb diet for just a few weeks. I seem to be stuck about 25 pounds from my goal and I want to kickstart things again.

So with that in mind, I needed to pick up some produce and some dill relish. I added some cheap Covergirl freebies and moneymakers so I could use a $5 off $25 Save-a-Lot printable coupon. (My store considers Save-a-Lot a competitor.)

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

  1. how about sharing that low carb diet with the rest of us?

    • Hahaha maybe. Basically meat and certain low carb veggies. Lots of eggs and some cheese. Also lots of salads – egg salad, ham salad, tuna salad (that’s why I picked up the dill relish and we already have a ton of mayo.)

One of my go-to items on this diet is a chicken caesar salad (or plain caesar) without croutons. (Caesar dressing is one of the lower carb salad dressing options.)

Stay under 20 net grams of carbs each day. (Net carbs are the number of carbs you are eating minus any dietary fiber or sugar alcohols.)

I am just going to do this diet for a few weeks and lose about 10 or so pounds. I need to change things up to break through a plateau.

  2. What?! No Sabra hummus?!

    • LOL I should have bought one big one and had the whole thing today before the low carb thing.

  3. So great. I lost 20 lbs pretty quickly with the same diet. Love the caesar salad with the Tyson grilled chicken that was BOGO recently. Yum! Good Luck!

    • Thanks! I’m looking to just knock off 10-15 lbs in 2-3 weeks and then switch back to the low cal diet.

Thanks for sharing your Sweetbay deal last week with us Steve. I’m a Publix fan, so I almost never get to Sweebay. But after your stellar deal, I decided to check it out. I managed to get 7 packs of Smithfield pork, a pack of boneless skinless chicken breast, and 3 packs of chicken legs that were marked for quick sale. $33.27 before coupons, $5.73 or so after coupons. Amazing!

    • You’re welcome! I almost never go to Sweetbay either, but I always check the ad just in case something good pops up. I have a store about 1-2 miles from my house, but I only go in there about once every three months – and it always seems to be for a meat deal.

  5. Thanks for sharing your diet and shopping trip. Always love looking at your trips and the diet was a great bonus!

  6. Didn’t know about the Covergirl deal thank you so much!
