CVS 7/2 – Profit $6.50 on $11.90 of Merchandise (154.6% Saved)

I didn’t see the hot Nivea deal until after we returned from the store yesterday, so my disgustingly sweaty post-gym workout self stopped in at CVS on the way home from the gym today. When I need to do a deal while Stephanie is at work, they’re really cool about letting me do her transaction for her, so I was able to max out on the Nivea twice. I also picked up a few 2L bottles of Coca-Cola on oneĀ  of the transactions so I could use an ECB that was a little higher in value than the cost of the Niveas.

Here’s what I bought, along with the coupons used:

TRANSACTION #1 – ME
FOUR NIVEA CREME TINS, regular price $0.99
TWO COCA-COLA 2L BOTTLES, on sale $0.79 (regular price $1.99)
Get $2 Extra Care Bucks when you buy Nivea Creme Tins *unadvertised* (limit 4)
No coupons used
Price at Register: $5.54, but received $8 Extra Care Bucks
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $2.46 MONEYMAKER!

TRANSACTION #2 – FOR STEPHANIE
FOUR NIVEA CREME TINS, regular price $0.99
Get $2 Extra Care Bucks when you buy Nivea Creme Tins *unadvertised* (limit 4)
No coupons used
Price at Register: $3.96, but received $8 Extra Care Bucks
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $4.04 MONEYMAKER!

I used some ECBs on both transactions to get my out-of-pocket cost even lower.

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $11.90
Net Priced Paid for Everything: $6.50 MONEYMAKER (excluding tax)
Savings Rate (excluding tax): 154.6%

  1. Can you buy all four tins in the same transaction and get $8it in ecb? Or do you need to do 4this transsctions?

  2. yay! can’t wait to try this after work today! Will report back if it’s still working!

  3. ..you mean, wearing shorts again inside cvs since you did shop after the gym?..hehe lol..

  4. Where are the tins in the store? Right by the regular lotion? I’m going after work and am dragging my feet anyway (been a lo-oo-ooong day) so just want to know not to give up too soon!

    Thanks Steve!

  5. The small white containers of Nivea moistorizer for 99cents worked for me. Steve I have to say You are the Coupon “God” now!!!

    • I’m not the one who found the deal…just passing it on, but thanks anyways :)

  6. Thank you so much! Steve and just want to let you know that today i bought
4 head and shoulder shampoo $18.00
    use 2 BOGO from P&G 7/1/12 ($18.00)
    It’s free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love that.

    • Wow, you have an extra nice cashier too.

      • can you explain why they were free and not 9 bucks?

        • The cashier deducted the max value of the coupon instead of the actual cost of an item.

          • oh, that’s nice! thank you for your response! :) (I am still pretty new to couponing, and not always understand stuff; now that I took a good look at the coupon I see what you meant);

        • Natasha says:

I had trouble understand this as well. My teenaged daughter explained it like this (along with a handrawn picture for her dear old mom)…the ad says 2 for $9. This is means that the first bottle costs $9 and the 2nd bottle is free. Now apply the coupon to the 2nd bottle making the first bottle free. Basically, the sale is a BOGO and you are using a BOGO, making it a free free! I still wasn’t sure, so I tried it with one coupon first before committing the rest of them! I got a great deal and have an even greater little couponater in my family!

  7. Just came back from CVS in Cooper City (S FL) – no ecbs for Nivea tins…

Did get free cortisone cream – so not a wasted trip!

  8. I had originally bought 1on sunday and got the ecbs but went back today and bought the last 3one tins and got no ecbs. :-(

    • Looks like I was one of the last to get this deal. Must’ve been a mistake, but a very lucrative one for some of us!

      • I was able to get one deal in today for 4 tins however when I stopped at the next CVS 30 min’s later the deal was no longer working =(

      • Yes, indeed you scored (again) nice deal.
I went tonight, first I bought 4 regular tins, no ECB.
I decided to try my luck with the white and smaller tins, bought 2 of them, getting just plain receipt in return. They all r going back to the store.
But at least I got almost for nothing some Physician Formula cosmetics.

  9. Tiffany Thomas says:

I did this transaction today, and the cvs clerk was soooo nice! He says he welcomes couponers and learns a thing or 2 from us. He said he is happy to help anytime. I got a $4 ecb for registering my card online, so the 4 hand creams were free, plus the $8 ecb. Then bought 2 tide, 5 Dawn, 4 Pantene. After coupons and $8 ecb, I paid $15, but recieved a $10 gas card! I am really getting the hang of this!

  10. Ugh, I bought four after driving aimlessly, no ecbs, my friendly cashier was going to give them to me ,$8 ecb but I did not want to jeopardize his job =))

  11. heard this deal stopped working later yesterday…..never got in on it as my store had no tins :-( I’m thinking they pulled them after they saw what people were doing…. oh well!

  12. olivia clement says:

  13. marlene says:

  14. Kimmie alvarez says:

  15. Raquel Jones says:

    • It was an unadvertised (mistake) that worked until Monday afternoon. It is no longer working.
