I typically do not shop the new ad on the first night that it comes out and tonight I was reminded of why!! The store is extremely crowded and when you are trying to not spend much of anything with a 10 year old in tow, I think my nerves are shot.

Also, I had a similar experience to Steve tonight. After we got through my first transaction I knew that something rang up wrong and I figured it was the vitamins. Of course the vitamins that were in the $2.67 slot were not the right vitamins but there was not a shelf tag for the vitamins that were there. I got them and you can guess what happened,  they rang up as $7.99..Aaaccckkk. This is not how I wanted my transaction to go. I finished up with my second transaction and went to customer service to see what we could do about it. Since there was no shelf tag for the vitamins that I purchased they gave me one bottle for free but I did have to pay $7.99 for the other bottle. I considered just returning both of them but then I would have had to pay back $2.00 due to the coupons that I used. That was not going to happen. So I was refunded $7.99.

A few notes for everyone since this is my first Publix post. First, obviously my ad starts on Wednesday. Second, I live in half price BOGO land. Third, my preferred store allows you to use one Publix coupon up to 10 times per transaction but for the sake of less confusion I will list them as individuals. You will understand why I am telling you this once you see my transactions. (Also, you may want to ask your store if they will consider participating in this practice to help on waste.) Fourth, my stores double manufacturer coupons up to $.50. So here goes…

  1. May I ask where you live? I want to move there.. BOGO with doubling coupons, that’s my dream!

    • She’s at work right now, so I’ll tell you. Monica lives in the Huntsville, Alabama area.

      • I live in Huntsville also….welcome Monica…I am looking forward to your future post!

      • Do you shop the Publix on Highway 53?

        • I was able to print 10 coupons of those free pineapple with $5 purchase and 1 free whole chicken or veggie burgers with $10 purchase. I live too far to be able to use these, so if you are interested in these, please email me your info at debolo2011@yahoo.com and i will mail them out to you! First come, first served :) Thank you!

        • That is my preferred store but I shop at several different stores as well. It just depends what if any competitors coupons I am using.

  2. Good Job! I understand about the kid in tow thing. My kids wont let me concentrate either, and they always want something that is not on the list!

  3. Glennette says:

Great haul..too bad none of this seems realistic in my area. My stores dont double coupons nor do they accept up to 10 publix coupons using just the 1..

  4. Welcome! Great first post! Glad to have someone from the LOD “Land of Doubles” posting their transactions. Steve and crew do a WONDERFUL job but I love to hear from those of us who live outside of Florida too! Where State are you located in?

  5. Oops – Let’s try that again – What State are you located in?

  6. Thanks Steve! Off to Publix today to get my penny toliet paper along with a great deal Naomi mentioned yesterday on the Johnson & Johnson. You guys are the best!

    • I think she may have made a mistake. I don’t have a green flyer handy, but make sure the J&J coupon in there is not a manufacturer coupon.

      • It iiiisss a manufacturer coupon!!! I tried it today and was miserably denied!! :( (What a great feeling when you sincerely make a mistake) lol

No biggy….soooo many other wonderful deals you and Naomi give us!!

        • Yeah, we all make mistakes. I kinda wish they would have caught it at Naomi’s store so we wouldn’t have posted it :(

  7. Patricia S. says:

Awesome trip however I kind of don’t agree with using that pedigree publix coupon 10 times when you have to donate to get the coupon and you only purchased one of them. I can see if its a normal coupon that you get for free but something like this that you need to donate to get the one coupon you should have donated to get all the coupons. Just my opinion.

    • Thank you for sharing your opinion. I appreciate the opinions of others. I spent some time thinking about this decision but I decided since it was a Publix coupon then I would leave the decision making to them. Because they were so busy the customer service manager opened a register and I actually checked out in her line.

      • My store OFFERED to do it (use 1 coupon multiple times) since I bought the $5 donation sheet with the Dixie plates. I had 6 packages of plates for a party in my cart. Every store is different – no need to pass judgement on Monica. I don’t think my store cared if it was a Publix coupon from a donation sheet or a booklet – it is all the same to them. Personally, I think my store is a little more “coupon friendly” than some of the Florida stores perhaps because we don’t have a Publix every few blocks and the coupon users tend to be less.

    • I agree. It seems wrong to do it with the donation sheets…

    • Shame on you for using a donation coupon multiple times and on your Publix Customer Service Rep for letting you, if indeed they knew it was from a donation sheet after already being clipped.

      • I don’t see why people are getting offended over a thing as silly as using a coupon multiple times!! I mean yeah it was a donation coupon but since Publix allows it don’t be such prudes!!Good job Monica on having a wonderful shopping trip! I wish mine were that successful! :)

  8. Sharleen says:

I live in North Port Florida and I know about the Publix LU number on their coupons. But I asked mine about if I bought the Donation Sheets if it work the same (i.e. they would mulitiply it) and she said NO since you pay for those, but the Green Flyers, Yellow Flyers and other Publix Coupons with the LU number you only have to give one and ask to multiply, but then again sometimes it depends on the Cashier but I think if the coupon sheets are a Donation, it might be better not to ask to multiply.

  9. wendyc33 says:

usually shopping on the start of the sale week is not busy for me at all, but yesterday i was their and it was crazy, but it think its just summertime. I cannot shop like that and coupon shop with so many people in the store. So i didnt do as well. lowest price on the vitamins at my store was 3.99, and they were all gone.

  10. Cindy C says:

Nice haul, and well written article!!

  11. Publix is having a great sale on Pantene right now. Buy 3 get 1 free. you end up paying like
0.47 cents total not including tax for 4 pantenes: Use (2) of the $3/2 coupon from P&G 5/13 add along with (4) of the $1/1 Target insert coupon found in the 5/13 paper. This coupon expires 6/9.
But remember you get 1 free. So really you don’t pay much.
    3 x 3.49 = 10.47
    2 of $3 off = -6.00
    4 of $1 off = -4.00
    ___________________
    total = 0.47
But remember your get a free 3.49 off the fourth one too!!

    • Thank you so much for finding this deal! You can also find the target dollar coupon that expires 6/20 in the red plum insert from the 5/6 paper.

  12. I live in FL where you don’t have half price bogo, no double couponing, no senior discounts, and you 10 coupons for 10 items no matter what kind of coupon it is. We also can’t use Target as a competitor, only Winn Dixie, Earth Fare, Harvey’s, and Fresh Market. Harvey’s helps quite a bit but it’s hard to save big amounts since they got so strict about competitors. We have lots of couponers in Florida and Publix has a huge share of the grocery business so I just appreciate what I can save.

  13. Hey Monica…I live and shop in the Decatur area. I don’t recommend shopping the Decatur Publix if you are used to the coupon freedoms you have in Huntsville. Not only would they not have let me use a single coupon 10 times, I can’t even buy 10 bags of dog food at a time. They have a limit of 2 deals or 4 bags per transaction and don’t allow split/multiple transactions in order to purchase more. Maybe it would be worth my while and gas money to drive to Huntsville to do my Publix shopping. Sounds like I definitely wouldn’t be out anything by making the drive.

  14. curious says:

Is Earth Fare a supermarket? Curious as I would sign up,but if they are a grocer, my part of FL doesn’t have them so it wouldn’t be a competitor :( awesome pineapple coupon!

    • I checked and the only one in FL is in Tallahassee. They do business in most (if not all) of the other Publix states.
