We had to stop into Publix to do a last minute deal. The cats were running low on wet cat food. (By low I mean that we had less than a month’s supply left of their wet food.) Since today was the last chance to do the gas card deal, it was our final opportunity to get the cat food for free (if you consider that we are buying the gas anyways.) Unfortunately we were pressed for time, so we didn’t get to a store that would take our Temptations Treats coupons that were expired by a few days. (Some Publix stores accept expired coupons if they aren’t too far past the date.) Oh well 
Anyways, here’s what we bought and the coupons used:

NET PRICE FOR ALL: $12.64 (or 32 cents per item)
ONE HEAD OF ROMAINE LETTUCE, regular price $1.99
No coupons used
NET PRICE: $1.99
ONE PUBLIX HUMMUS 7 OZ, regular price $2.99

We did the gas card deal, but it is left out of the statistics on this deal because gas isn’t part of the grocery budget. We also used a $5 off $30 coupon from the Publix Spring Cleaning Booklet.
Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $31.94
Special Price Savings (Sales/BOGOs): $1.16
Coupon Savings (Manufacturer/Store): $20.16
Net Price Paid for Everything: $10.62 plus tax
Savings Rate: 66.8%
But if you consider we were going to buy the gas anyways, the entire purchase was nearly free. The final out-of-pocket cost was $50.62 plus tax and the deal included a $50 Gas Card!

Does Publix look at you wierd when you buy all that cat food at one time? I can buy a large quantity of anything, and they never blink, until its cat food. For the longest time I had 5 cats (2 were really old and have both recently passed) but I still have 3. I got 6 bags of Meow Mix before the $1 coupons expired on Saturday, and the bagger that helped me out of the store asked me if I actually had any cats. I said, yes, 3, and this isnt very much food! He was like, oh I guess not! I did the Whiskas soft food 2 days before that at a different store, and they were like, WOW thats a LOT of cat food! You go through a lot of soft cat food when you feed it to 3 cats almost every day
I’ve never had a weird look from anyone because of cat food. Our cats don’t get a lot of wet food each day; they split one tray/can in the morning and have dry food the rest of the time, so at least we don’t go through it too fast.
