This is a fantastic week to shop at Walgreens. There are some other really good deals going this week that we didn’t do because we didn’t need or want the products, but you should check out the long list of freebie items after mail-in rebates, as well as the Garnier Fructis, Ester-C, Sheets Energy Strips, Reach, Biotene, Star Wars Action Figures, Bumble Bee and Hefty deals here. We decided to stick to the freebies and moneymakers, along with the cheap toothpaste deal because it fit in nicely so we didn’t need any filler items on Transaction #2.

Extra note: Our out-of-pocket cost was much lower than these transactions indicate. We started with a Register Reward for $5 on Transaction #1 that lowered out out of pocket expense. (We had to buy the gift sack so we could use the extra coupon.) Transaction #2 only cost us sales tax out of pocket because we used the $10 Register Reward earned in Transaction #1. We then used the Register Rewards earned in Transaction #2 to lower our out-of-pocket in Transaction #3. (I don’t list these in the actual scenario because they skew our savings rate, since they are actually savings from a previous transaction. I count the rewards when they are EARNED, not spent.)
TOTAL RETAIL VALUE OF ALL ITEMS PURCHASED: $57.61
NET PRICE PAID FOR ALL: $3.59 PROFIT (less $2.35 sales tax)
SAVINGS RATE (EXCLUDING SALES TAX): 106.2%
SAVINGS RATE (INCLUDING SALES TAX): 102.1%

Candy, toothpaste, lube, and of course aspirin. The Walgreens cashier thinks you two are nuts.
I know…and I’m about to write about a new K-Y coupon lol
Can all this KY get used to lube car doors? I have this stuff coming out of our ears! Even bought more at Publix this past week for $1.00 mm……If my kids ever find the condom and lube drawer in the stock area they are gonna have a field day with all those balloons!
lol
lol… next summer you can put it on the kids’ Slip & Slide and save on the water bill.
Stacey: How was the KY a MM? I missed that one! I thought they were all MQ’s?
See if i can remember exactly what I did without the reciept……..Publix had a $2.00 q in their green book. Don’t know exactly the name of it and then I used my mq with it.
Well I just read your comments below…..If the green flyer was a mq then I sure wasn’t aware of it and neither was my Publix because I didn’t have any beeps. I thought that the green and yellow flyers were Publix q’s not manufacturer q’s. If so then I am correct and would you explain to me how you know the difference between a Publix q and a Manufacturers q if this is what Publix is putting out as their coupons?
Hi Stacey. All Publix coupons have an LU# on them somewhere. The K-Y coupon did not, and it said manufacturer’s coupon at the top. 90% of the coupons in the Yellow and Green Flyers are manufacturer coupons, but there are a few that sometimes are not.
I am so bummed!! I bought a ton of the Snickers chocolate hearts yesterday!!! I would have had SO much overage if I had seen that was going to be .39 today!!! The ad does say limit 6 but I see you bought more so it’s probably YMMV. It was free…. but missing overage ….BOO!!! Could have bought diapers!!! Win some, lose some
Free is still good. I wouldn’t say you really “lost”
True:-)
BTW, I am hooked on your site. I use others that are wonderful like IHP but I really like how you break down your shopping trips. You don’t leave anything out. That makes a huge difference when you are trying to follow the savings so that you can do it yourself. Thanks for doing such a great job!
You’re welcome
I just started couponing about a month ago. I found your site and I LOVE it!! My 2 other sisters and daughter-in-law get together and plan our trips. You make it so much easier. Thanks Steve for doing an awesone job!! BTW, we went to wags this morning real early to make sure that we got the GOOD buys before they ran out. They told us that they had a limit of one on the wet lube. And they only had 7 of them to begin with. Seems like they never have enough of the RR items.:(. Thanks again Steve for a great site!!!!
That’s a big bottle. You should be ok ’til the next sale unless you are a very, very busy woman
The new diabetic magazine at walgreen does not have the colgate coupon in it.
Perhaps the Spring book is out already? My store didn’t have any books in the pharmacy.
i tried the star wars figure deal and was about chased out the store.the cashier called the manager about the q. after reading it for 3 min he seemed confused. he asked me what do you want me to give you 2 for 1.50 sarcastically.i said yes that what the sale is. he said we already are giving you 1 for free and you are trying to use a b1g1 q, like im fradulent. i said this a common way to use b1g1 qs. he laughed and said i’ll give you two for 9.99. wouldnt he be profiting off of the coupon that way?.anyways i said let me get my eggs and im done.
That is definitely a case where you should contact corporate. That is outrageous behavior on the part of the Walgreens employee (plus he’s wrong!)
I would have chewed him out, pulled up their coupon policy on my phone and contacted Walgreens corporate from inside the store. There is no excuse for that and I would have made them pay dearly.
i think i might call corporate. i never have before for any store. not to mention my son loves star wars and im sure they will be gone now. i checked a few wags this week to check stock and they all had just 2 in stock. typical for walgreens and their ads stock.
I’d do it. Heck, I’m the kind of guy who would go back in there with roommate ready to shoot video of the manager making an a** out of himself for Youtube
If he was going to give you 2 for $9.99 and then they were getting reimburst for the coupon for $9.99 you were getting sc#wed and they were basically getting paid for both items, ot maybe they wanted the coupon so they could do the deal they didn’t want you to do
Let us know what corporate say when you call them
Steve: do you know the combo of coupons Stacey (above) used for ky mm?
No I do not. I do know that some people thought (or pretended to think) the coupon in the last Green Advantage Flyer was a store coupon, which it was not. That is one possibility if they managed to stack that with a second manufacturer coupon for $3 off (which isn’t supposed to be allowed at Publix.)
There was also a manufacturer coupon for $5 off any K-Y brand product that came out of the Walgreens Catalina machines a while back when you took advantage of the Lifestyles condom deal they had right before New Year’s. It could have been that coupon.
Got a quick question. If an item is B1G1 or buy one get one for half price can you use two coupons on these?
Yes you can at Walgreens
now can one do the three transactions twice since WAGS does not have a “wellness card”? or how do they keep track…i want to use the deals above to stockpile come toothpaste…
They don’t really have a way to keep track. Some stores will make their own limits of one per trip, which they are entitled to do. You can, however, stop in once every day or two if they do have limits, or you can visit multiple stores.
DH wanted to go Qing with me this past Sunday. I’ve only been Qing for about 7 weeks now, but I know how to do Walgreens. SO, I put him in charge of holding the receipts, because my numerous transactions can even confuse the cashier. (THey were out of the Mars candies though sadly). Now, I am sure my husband may have been wondering; I got 3 of th Synergy, 3 of the Energy strips, and of course, got toothbrushes, toothpaste, and the aspirin (again, I need low dose daily). NOw, the older cashier lady didn’t seem to bat an eye, however, she might have if she’d seen that we have 8 kids, most of them NOT with us. LOL But, the Synergy is for my friend’s sheep, 3 are PG. LOL I wanted to try the Energy thingies since I do have 8 kids to chase. Haha! SO, yeah, this week was NOT a time for DH to go Qing with me and not wonder what the cashier is PROBABLY wondering. LOL SHe just chatted him up about how if he saved the receipts and he’d see how much $$ I was saving by Qing. LOL
Ha interesting week to take your DH shopping
Hi Steve. I have a Q for you. I had the coupon for Blink printed from internet. It said on it “redeemable at Walmart” so my Walgreens didn’t take it because of it. Do you consider that coupon manufacturer’s or not? ty in advance
Yes, it is a manufacturer’s coupon, but some stores are quirky about whether or not they will accept them. The only ones you explicitly can’t use are the manufacturer’s coupons that say Redeemable ONLY at ________.
If Walgreens takes your Blink coupon and submits it for reimbursement they will get paid, but that doesn’t mean they will care.
do you think it is worth mentioning to corporate since i alrady called and complained (about other issue)?
It won’t hurt to give them feedback. Who knows…maybe they will send you a gift card or something for telling them about your experience.
Thank you so much.
