One of our fellow Couponaholics, Jane, emailed me to let me know about this awesome change in the CVS Corporate Coupon Policy.
This is the text in the revised CVS Coupon Policy with respect to Buy One, Get One Free sales and coupons:
Two coupons may be used on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion as long as it does not exceed the item total
- Ex. Suave Shampoo is on sale for $2.00 Buy One, Get One Free and the customer is purchasing two shampoos; customer may use two coupons for $1.00 each and pay the applicable tax.
Buy One, Get One Free promotions may be combined with Buy One, Get One Free Coupons. Customers are responsible for paying applicable tax
-Ex. Suave Shampoo is on sale for $2.00 BOGO and customer has a MFG coupon for Suave BOGO. Customer will receive both items for free but will need to pay any applicable tax.
What an awesome, awesome, awesome development! Now we can use coupons on both items in a BOGO sale!

This is great news! I clicked on it and it is a PDF.
Wish it had the date though so the cashiers could
see that it is the recent policy.
I think I am going to have it pulled up on my iPhone the next time I am buying a BOGO item with coupons…just in case.
Hey Steve, this is great news from CVS.
I have a question about Walgreens though, isn’t Walgreens like this already? My experience on Sunday….my Walgreens was great and everything went fine..coupon wise. But the second store was completely different. (1st store only had 2 star wars figures) I had an disagreement with a cashier on the B1G1 deal with the Star Wars figures and remember the B1G1 coupon you told us to get like 3 weeks ago? Instead of taking off $11.49 she only took off $5.74. Of course I didn’t win that one. I looked up the rules for B1G1 at Walgreens but it does not say anything about having a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 item.
When it’s not clear in the policy (like this case), your mileage may vary based on the store. There’s not really much you can do. Some will get $9.99 off (the coupon max), some cashiers will screw up and give $11.49, others will give you trouble and do crap like your cashier did to you.
If they tried to do that to me, I probably wouldn’t have done the deal, but I understand your concern about quantities on the shelves. In that case I would insist that they write only the amount they took off on the coupon $5.49. It is BS if they do that to you and try to get $9.99 for the coupon.
Steve, If you could post this for all to see. I would apreciate it.
Just talked to Walgreens Corporate office, they stated that they DO honor the B1G1 coupon when they have items on sale at B1G1, just like CVS.
I requested that this is stated on their policy on their website. I have a reference number to make sure this is sent up to the big wigs.
This is the number I called…1-800-925-4733…Customer Service. She read to me the additional information that is not in the policy on the website.
Hopefully we will see an update like CVS did.
It is not the policy who states how much has to be deducted, is the coupon itself, up to the maximum, in this case $9.99. Every cashier is supposed to deduct the price of that product which is actually being paid. tough the other is actually $0.00, and that is what the coupon said B1G1 free so the cashier has to stick to the coupon, period.
Thanks guys. Is there anywhere that says that so next time I can just show them the rules?
