We had a pretty good day at Walgreens! We had two moneymakers – Estroven and South Beach Diet Bars – because we printed coupons that were available over the past few weeks. We bought gum on transactions two and four for two reasons… #1 it looked tasty and was on sale with the store coupon in the ad, and #2 we needed an extra filler item so we could use two Register Rewards to lower our out-of-pocket spending on those transactions.
TOTAL VALUE OF ALL MERCHANDISE: $107.90
NET PRICE PAID FOR ALL: -$7.04 (but $0.25 sales tax)

Haven’t gotten to Wags yet but heading there in a bit, you did great
Thermacare.com has a 3 off any coupon.
I love the cat in the background.
I was wondering if anyone would notice
Hi Steve! How much out of Pocket did you spend?
I had some RRs from last week, and I don’t list the ones I use because I think it misleads people about how much I saved on the items I purchased today.
However, since you asked…
Transaction #1: I used a $10 RR (SAMe) and paid nothing out of pocket
Transaction #2: I used the $10 RR (Abrexin-Transaction#1) and a $4 RR (Colgate) and paid $0.98 + $0.21 tax = $1.19 out of pocket
Transaction #3: She used my $10 RR (Estroven-Transaction#2) and paid nothing out of pocket
Transaction #4: She used her $10 RR (Abrexin-Transaction#3) and a $4 RR (Colgate) and paid $0.98 + $0.04 tax = $1.02 out of pocket
Interesting note: Transactions #2 and #4 are identical, except for the type of heat wrap. The neck variety is taxable where we live, but the menstrual is not.
Total out-of-pocket = $1.96 plus $0.25 tax
Register Rewards = Spent $48, but received $57 (so gained $9 in RRs)
Profit = $7.04 (or $6.79, depending on whether or not you factor in the sales tax.)
Hi,
You can also get four boxes of aleve for .24 each. They are $3.99 each and there is a $5 Register Reward when you spend $15. Buy four and then use 2 of the $5/2 coupons. Just did it today, and it worked fine.
I’m going to have to check that one out. Looks like a good deal and surprised I missed it.
Hi!!
I just went to the Thermacare website and when I printed the $3.00 coupon it states in parenthesis that is good for a 2 count or larger — perhaps this was inserted after people started to downloaded? Good try and thanks to Dustin!!
Great deals Steve!!
I will try to do your Transaction #2 tomorrow!! Hope they do not run out!!
Good luck!
Thanks for everything!!! Truly appreciate it!!
When I went to my Walgreens today (3 times) I bought the Thermacare Neck, Wrist and Shoulder patch for $2.50 expecting the $2.50 RR. I was surprised that each time, after the item was scanned, a coupon for $2 off any Thermacare product printed out – making the item 50ยข with a $2.50 RR. The cashier didn’t even blink an eye, took the coupon and scanned it right away. The last woman I had said, “Yes, this has been happening all day – it’s a $2 moneymaker!” Did it print for you???
I am surprised that the coupon scanned. I received this coupon today, but under “any Thermacare product” it says “2 ct or larger” on a separate line.
I would not use this coupon because it is not a match, but I’m sure it was an innocent mistake if yours said 2 ct or larger and nobody saw it.
Oh wow – each time I wasn’t even give the opportunity to see it – the cashier just took it from the machine and scanned it – wow! Sorry!!
Also, my South Beach RR rolled 4 times before it stopped (bought 5 boxes total at 3 different stores) – is that normal and if it is, why did it stop – ha!!?
I’m a master CVS-er but have never really ventured into Walgreens and their RRs (even though there is a Walgreens less than a mile from my house!) I’m going to get my toes wet with the South Beach Diet bars sale + $1/1 coupon tomorrow, and see if I can keep my RR’s rolling the way I do at CVS…with the help of your excellent scenarios, of course!
Good luck! Feel free to ask any questions if you run into snags. I’m sure that either I, or someone else one here, will be happy to help
So, here’s my first “Will this scenario work?” question:
I want to use my $5.99 RR from the South Beach Diet bars next week on the Bic Hybrid razor system deal (@ $5.99, get $2 RR back), and use the BOGO Bic coupon from the SS 1/08 to get another one free. I *think* this will work, but I wanted to ask the expert.
Yes, but your BOGO coupon may attach to both items. If so, you will beep unless you buy a filler. So I’d find something really, really cheap to add to your order if it beeps when they try to scan your last coupon (the Register Reward.) If it beeps, have them add the other item and then your RR coupon will go through.
