Walgreens Trip 1/24 – Profit $1.81 on $25.19 of Merchandise (Saved 107.2%)

I stopped in a Walgreens today to do one quick transaction, the Cortaid moneymaker deal. One little tip for those of you that are having issues with the manufacturer coupon: do what I did today and tell the cashier that the coupon will beep because of the new bar code before they do everything. When the coupon beeped, my cashier quickly scanned the words on the coupon and pushed them all through. Also, make sure you do the in-ad coupon last to avoid a coupon adjustment, plus also make sure you have enough in your order to consume the overage from the Cortaid.

Here is what my transaction looked like (note that I did not pay anything for the cat):

FIVE CORTAID 0.5 OZ., regular price $4.59
ONE FLURRY PROTEIN BAR, regular price $1.99
ONE PIECE OF CANDY, regular price $0.25
Get $2 Register Rewards when you buy one Flurry Protein Bar
Used five $3/1 Any Cortaid (excludes trial size), 1/8 SS newspaper insert
and used the $2/1 Cortaid/Neosporin in-ad coupon (deducted $10)
Price at Register $0.19 (plus two cents tax), but received $2 Register Reward
NET PRICE FOR ALL: $1.81 MONEYMAKER (less the two cents of sales tax)

Total Retail Value of All Merchandise: $25.19
Net Price Paid for Everything: $1.81 MONEYMAKER!
Savings Rate (excluding sales tax): 107.2%
Savings Rate (including sales tax): 107.1%

Isn’t there a limitation on the number of Cortaid you can use per transaction?

    • steve says:

Well, I’ll be damned…there was…didn’t even think to look because they’re not P&G. Cashier didn’t look either.

I was planning on going to do a quick CVS trip tomorrow when I was checking out your deal there this popped up. :) Cute kitty btw! :) Anyways, I went to Wags today to do the cortaid overage and the thermacare deal so 3 cortaid plus 2 thermacare bonus packs (3+1bonus) on sale handed over all my q’s plus I had a 2.50 RR when the cashier goes…….you need to add something else so I can use your 2.50 RR!!!!!! I was put on the spot and had a total brain fart!!! I grabbed a lollipop for my son when I should have used the flurry bar! DUH! Well, I still made over $2 bc I walked out with a $5 RR for the therma care ………. oh well ………. ALSO! YES! the register beeped for the cortaid. She saw everything matched up and forced them through. (I have the best checker lady) and a tip I learned, I go to the makeup counter to check out since there is usually no line and the cashier is less stressed.

    • steve says:

I go to the cosmetics counter about 90% of the time.

Don’t forget guys…when you check out at the Cosmetic counter ask for the punch card for checking out there. Once you have purchased $100 at that counter, you get 15% off your next order. But you have to give the cashier the card before she starts to ring everything up. Saves alot when you have a big order!!! And makes your coupons more valuable.

yes i went to wags last night and tried to do as i was thought: first hand the man q then the wag for cortaid…..well…the casher told me that i can’t get an overage and he cancelled my product then brough it up again and did the wag coupon first and then adjusted the man q from $3 to $2.49. So no overage for me. Can they even do that? i feel robed!!! Oh and then i tried to collect my raincheck from the last week for the bic lighters and guess what…. the cashier told me that they had these lighters last week, although the raincheck is from that wag…makes no sence…anyways they refused to give me my raincheck lighters on my raincheck…

    • steve says:

I’m kind of surprised by the lighters. I’m not sure why your store even gives rainchecks if you have to buy them during the sale even if they are all out of them.

As for the Cortaid…technically their policy is to not give overage and the cashier did things correctly. This almost never happens. That’s just some tough luck. Free is still a pretty good deal :)

  4. daniela says:

The same with me, no overage, but ok.

  5. Pris Santiago says:

hi nice haul, is there a special order to give the coupons?
    thanks

    • steve says:

The Cortaid in-ad coupon must be the last coupon to avoid problems with the Wags coupon adjusting down.
