Wow! Great trip! Mine wasn’t that spectacular, but still a nice one. Got 10 boxes of Fiber One cereals for free and $4 in overage. 2 pouches of Starkist tuna for free, Method dish detergent – 50c3 cans of Muir Glen diced tomatoes – 28c each

Is your store a real BOGO one? I am trying to figure out the Ocean Spray deal. At my store I would still have to pay $3 for 4 of them, which is still a great deal

  2. elena says:

ohhh……i wish they had publix here in SC…..great job though!!!!!

  3. Chrissy says:

I see phyzame & sominex in your picture, but not listed. I am assuming they give overage cause your totals don’t add up to me??

    AWESOME JOB!!

    • steve says:

ooops lol yes they gave me about $5 of overage total… $2/1 Sominex and $2/1 Phazyme printable coupons from the manufacturer sites (2 of each), plus two $5/2 Green Advantage Flyer coupons stacked with them. I’m going to bed, but I’ll probably fix that tomorrow morning if I have a few minutes.

  4. Angela says:

GREAAAT haul Steve! but how come you used both mfr and a store cpn for the free Speed stick? I didn’t know you could do that! They would flip if I tried such a thing @ my store! They would lecture me about how the item is already free with one cpn and just wouldn’t allow me to use the other!!

    • steve says:

The coupon policy explicitly says one of each (man & store) per item. I knew there was a chance I could get grief even though it’s within the rules, so I chose my cashier line wisely.

      • Angela says:

U know, I did what u told me and called corporate. I just got off the phone with Publix District manager and he assure me that they welcome couponers and that he was going to my store today to get that lady off my back :) but… when asked about overage, he said that technically coupons are for wht they r meant and that if an item is cheaper than the coupon face value, it should be changed to the price of the item!!!! In that case, I much rather just get extra items to make #cpns=#items so there’s no “beepage”! but then again… How that saving?? Thought talking to him would clear things up for me but it just made me more upset :(

        • steve says:

You could go at a time when the store’s not too busy and tell them to ring up extra free speed sticks if they won’t give you the overage. Then grab them after you complete your transaction.

          • Angela says:

I see what u mean but I was talking in general… like whenever there’s a mm, I’d make sure that I don’t have more cpns than items so I don’t get bothered by them!! wht a bummer!

  5. Kim R says:

    Steve,
Where did you find the Save-a-lot coupon?
    Thanks,
    Kim

  6. Ashley D says:

I still need to get the Kotex and Lady Speed Stick deal….I’m good friends with a single mom who has three teenage girls and little money to buy them the things they need :) she loves getting deodorant for them I did really really really well this past week $1914 of groceries for $4.72 :) we special ordered a ton (and I mean a ton) of vitamins and gasx. Everyone gives us their coupons so we are able to stock the church to high heaven with the item they can use for the montly healthy clinic. Next up….Sominex. phew! Hopefull it wont take 3 hours to checkout this time :)

  7. elaine says:

Steve, did you do the Publix $10 gift card deal when you buy $100 in groceries? The $10 rebate that you mention… is that what it is?

    Thanks

  8. kim says:

Yeah I didn’t do as well today as I wanted because neither of my stores stock the 10-12 count of the breath right strips. So it messed my trip all up but still ended up only paying $8.00 for $54 worth of groceries. Which isn’t really as good as you always do but it’s good for me :)
I did the kotex/ lady speed stick deal last week and I also chose my cashier wisely and he gave me no problems at all and the manager did have to do an override on the coupons but didn’t question me about it.

  9. Alexus says:

Hey there Steve! Sorry this is kind of unrelated to this post… I remembered after seeing you bought alpo- there is a printable PETco coupon for a free 13 oz. Can of PURINA pro plan dog food, no purchase necessary! Thought you might wanna share(:

  10. Allison says:

Thanks for linking up at Allison’s Durham Deals! I’m always so impressed by how much you save at Publix. I shopped there for the first time last week when I vacationed in Florida, and it was quite a bit more challenging than the stores I shop at home. I had a new appreciation for your deals! :)

    • steve says:

I think I’d have the same issues if I went your way. I think we all learn our own store’s policies inside and out.

  11. Lauren says:

Does anyone know if the free item from the BOGO counts towards the $100 you need to spend? Or is it just $100 before coupons?

    • steve says:

Your total must be $100 (not including tax) and before coupons. So no, in a situation where an item is BOGO, any item that is “free” will not count.

      • Lauren says:

What if I have a coupon making it free? That still counts right?

        • steve says:

Yes. Let’s say you have a BOGO coupon and an item is on sale BOGO $2.99. One will ring up as $2.99 and one will ring up free. The $2.99 one will reflect in your pre-coupon total, so it will count towards your $100. Then, after you qualify, the coupons will be deducted. Just to be sure, I’d put the $10 coupon on top of the pile when you hand them over.
