Publix 1/26 – Paid $3.35 on $161.45 of Merchandise (Saved 97.9%)

Today was a great day for us at Publix! The roommate loves her LaCroix water and she just had the last one yesterday…what perfect timing for a BOGO sale! We also wanted to try the Atkins Shakes which were on BOGO, plus we were happy to see the Kraft Blue Cheese Dressing on BOGO, even though it wasn’t a real stock-up price. Umm, that is a lot of fiber one…

    • steve says:

Oh…we aren’t eating it. I gave away 30 boxes to the St. Pete Free Clinic Food Bank in December. They will be getting a lot more very soon!

  2. rebecca says:

How is it that you get the $5/$30 winn-dixie city competitor coupons and were?

    • steve says:

There are booklets you can buy called “Enjoy the City” for many cities. I wait until they go on sale and buy a ton of them :)

  3. Jennifer says:

I can’t believe the great savings you guys get at Publix – wish we had that here in Michigan or at least omparable!! Great job!! By-the-way, how are the two of you doing on Atkins?? I’m planning on starting tomorrow.

    • steve says:

Roommate does great at it. Me…not so much. She’s lost a ton of weight and one of my brothers did the diet and lost 100 lbs. that he’s kept off for almost 10 years.

  4. Catherine says:

During my trip to Publix this morning, I found velveeta still had the BOGO sign on it so I paired it with the tearpad $1 on ground beef and rotel tomatoes (and sauce too). When it rang up as two seperate purchases, I took the receipt to the customer service desk and received a refund for one of them as Publix honors what the sales signs say as long as they are still up. I also bought three swanson broths (used coupons) and received three free Publix broths. Seems the store I shop at doesn’t have a limit on Buy theirs, Get ours free!

  5. Marjorie says:

I’m so glad to have found your site on SouthernSavers. I have enjoyed many deals in Pinellas County thanks to you, so I’m hoping you left me some Fiber one to get tomorrow! :o ) Thanks again!

    • steve says:

We left plenty behind. Just make sure you check the sizes and use the in-ad coupons, not the ones on the peg boards in the stores. The ones on the peg boards list specific brands and they don’t list Fiber One. The in-ad coupon says General Mills cereal with a size range.

      • Stephanie says:

So the ads in the front of the store will not have the same coupons?

        • steve says:

The peg board coupons are nearly identical, but the coupon in the actual ad at the front of the store is less specific on the General Mills Cereal and you can use it on Fiber One. I think the size is 15.6 to 17.25, which includes the Raisin Bran Crunch and one other variety of Fiber One.

  6. Wendi says:

Gosh I wish we had a great grocery store like Publix out here in California. We are lucky to save at the most 50% on certain grocery items. Target has certain items you can get good deals with their coupon and mq. I love to see what all you can get at Publix! Happy shopping :o )

  7. bonna says:

im also giving all my gasx and exlax this sunday including all the natures bounty vitamins..there’s a box for any donation at the back door in the church at sevilla street to be given to the nursing home and hospitals….

  8. Milissa says:

I am done using coupons I swear this time. I just got back from my publix and the shelves are cleared and there is nothing in the back. I could not be more disappointed in the people of this town or whoever over shops my publix. So sad. And, my cashier demanded all my coupons up-front. Then forgot to ring one of my 5.00 off charcoal coupons, I’m too sad to even go to Publix to ask for my coupon back!

    • steve says:

That f’n sucks. I know you don’t want to hear this right now, but next time take a deep breath, collect yourself and get some rain checks!

And don’t pay full price for charcoal. If they didn’t scan a coupon on one item and you don’t want to grovel to get your coupon back, just return it.

And before you think about quitting, look in those full cupboards and see all the stuff you never want to pay full price for again.

    • happy couponer says:

Perhaps call the store asap because the cashier’s draw / till would have checked out with a $5 overage in coupons and csr can make a note of that, so the next time you shop, they will give you the $5. Hope this helps.

I got tired of the empty shelves too, so I placed an order. It is so much easier.

      • MIlissa says:

I wish they were not doing away with curbside. I totally would use it in pasco county. I would pay 7 dollars and still be able to use my coupons. Wow, my life would be so much easier.

  9. stephen says:

Hi Steve, great job on finding that Gas-x .I think since the coupon came out we have searched every time we went Publix, and all the shelves were cleared in Pasco county.thanks for always posting the best deals.

    • Angela says:

Same here! It was so frustrating! I went to like 6 different stores and none of them had any!!! The worst part is that on the 1st day the Green Advantage flyer came out, I found 3 Nature Bounty vit. @$4.79 ea but the assistant manager REFUSED to let me use both coupons!!! claiming that the coupons are meant for whatever is listed on them and nothing else!! In other words: NO OVERAGE! I got sick to my stomach and left everything behind… It was senseless to even try to explain to her coz I’ve tried many times b4! Oh and u know what iced the cake? they were never put back on the shelf nor was it restocked and, ready for it… they changed the price to $5.19!!! what do u think Steve?
PS: I refuse to give up! I enjoy couponing too much to let such pple bring me down :)

      • steve says:

I noticed the $5.19 price change too. I’d call or email corporate and ask them for an email you can take to the store stating that they are to honor the words on the coupons. The coupons in question say “ANY” and corporate will back you up that “any” means “any”

FYI – I did what I am suggesting you do and I no longer have issues at the store that previously gave me trouble in a similar situation.

        • Angela says:

I’ve tried before but all I got was a phone call from the manager of my store saying how sorry he was and how I’m more than welcome to address any issue I have with him!! Let me tell you it’s all BS!! kinda gave up on that. could u please give me corporate’s e-mail?

Anyways… I had a great day today! My favorite cashier was there and everything went super smooth_ Thank God! I have 4 kids and Fiber One Caramel delight happens to be one of their FAVORITE… I scored big time as I happened to have some $.85/1 that were available a couple of weeks back (I think it was from coupon network but I’m not sure!) Thank you Steve for all the wonderful posts! :)

      • Milissa says:

@ Angela, either the first or second day of the sale I found 4 boxes of Ex-lax and I would not leave the store till they let me use my coupons. Haha, I really want that overage to buy my chicken! Basically, I knew I was right, and they were reading the coupons wrong.

        • Angela says:

I’ve held my ground before but she is just a lost soul and I didn’t want her ruining my whole day so I chose to walk away! I really feel like she targets me… like she would be somewhere else and as soon as she spots me at the register she finds some lame excuse to come over just to glance @ my coupons!! I don’t know if she’s jealous of my savings or what’s her deal!

    • MilissaFrancoa says:

I don’t I know if it was cleared or If the pasco stores chose to not restock them item. Good luck with the new moneymakers!

      • steve says:

I don’t have the right coupons. I think I hit my print limit on Sominex and Phazyme last time. I have a handful of Breathe Right coupons that should help hold the bill down the next few weeks a little, but it’s not going to be crazy good unless we get some good stuff in the regular weekly ad.

  10. Milissa says:

Oh, I forgot to mention, I spotted a tearpad for $1.00 off produce when you buy two tostitos. The coupon doesn’t expire till march. Look by the chips!!

  11. Melissa says:

Hey all, it could be worse, up here in Lakeland, one of the biggest Publix stores closed on new years eve for remodeling (wont be open till August or September!) well everyone moved on to the next store down the road, which is smaller! They actually put signs up in front of the Edge and Skintimate shaving creams last week that each customer could only get 1 deal (BOGO) for ALL shaving cream. Not 1 male, 1 female, but 1 period! Its going to be a long 8 months!

  12. Marcel says:

    How did she lose weight?

    • steve says:

The Atkins low-carb diet. Tofu, meat, eggs, bacon, cheese, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, romaine lettuce, cucumbers (without skins), zucchini and squash (in moderation), Atkins bars, celery, mayo (lots of chicken/tuna/egg salad.) People have clamored about how unhealthy the diet is, but if you aren’t doing tons of red meat and bacon, it’s remarkably better than the average person’s diet.

  13. coupongirl says:

Where can i find $2/1 GM cereal? Is it still available or it’s gone?

    • steve says:

It is in the Publix weekly ad flyer that ends today in Florida (and ended yesterday in other states)
