As I mentioned when posting about the CVS deals, I thought this would be a great week to spend down some of my ECBs I had accumulated on Black Friday and had been rolling for a long time. The All Laundry Detergent deal and the Axe shower gel deals were too good for me to pass up.
So here’s what we bought, along with coupons used. I’m not doing a full breakdown of each transaction this week because I had to do a bunch of transactions to comply with the two coupon per transaction limit on the Finish coupon.

Shouldn’t all 4 Axe bottles been free, excluding tax, with the BOGO sale and BOGO coupons?
Ooops made a typo. Fixed now – thanks!
Scratch my question. I checked the ad and they are on sale $4.49 each, not BOGO.
Hi guys, just a heads up on the Axe…i think you can use 2 BOGO and 2 $2/1 off (12/11/11 RP) which takes the total to $4.98 and with the $4 extra bucks, it’s $.98 for 4 AXE!!!!
right?
I think CVS will treat the BOGO coupon as attaching to both items. Not 100% sure though…
I used a BOGO coupon and a $1off peelie on the Stayfree. It went through just fine. So i think you can also use the BOGO and the $2/1.
Yep, I did the same thing with the razor deal a while back, used 1 BOGO coupon and $2/1. It went through fine.
I was just going to ask that…going tomorrow to do the All deal and the Axe deal. Wish me luck!!!
Did you have any problems using the 2.15 off coupons on the finish 20ct?
No, but I didn’t buy a Quantum and went over the coupon with the cashier. That always seems to work better because if they read it first and form an opinion on their own, they might dig in…even if they’re wrong.
Do you calculate your ecbs that you use in your transactions on your totals?? I didn’t see them on there so I was just wondering.
Also can you tell me how you calculate your percentages? I used to be good at math but for some reason I don’t know what calculation or whatever you call it to use to figure it out. Like if I spend $9.10 oop and saved $66.08 how do you figure out the percentage?
Thanks!!
I treat all ECBs earned and spent as cash. A lot of people think that if they bought an item for $10, used a $2 manufacturer coupon, and an $8 ECB they got the item for free and saved 100%. That’s not true, because that ECB was like spending cash.
I treat Register Rewards (Walgreens) and ECBs (CVS) as cash earned when I bought the qualifying product. When they are spent I treat them just like any other cash spent. This gives a much more realistic view of the actual savings on the items bought in any given trip.
For example, see the Axe Shower Gels transaction? I list the $8.98 register price and the $4 ECBs earned. Then I list the net price of those items as $4.98.
Forgot to answer your other question. If you want to reverse engineer your savings percentage from your out of pocket, do this…
Take your out of pocket number and ADD all the register rewards/ecbs you spent to that number. That leaves you with what these items really cost before RRs & ECBs.
Then take that number and deduct all the RRs and ECBs you earned for buying those products. That is the true amount you spent for the items in the transaction.
You then need to know what the full regular price is on all items.
Take the true amount you spent and divide that by the full regular price and multiply that result by 100. This is the percentage of full value you paid.
Then take 100 and subtract the percentage of full value you paid to get the full value you saved. That’s your savings rate.
Confusing, eh?
a little confusing but thanks for your help. I wasn’t adding in my ecbs or rr’s as $ or the cost of my items but that does make sense.
