Today was an awesome day for us at CVS! There was an awesome moneymaker scenario on Centrum Pro Nutrients, plus we also got some free Combos snacks. We converted some ECBs (Extra Care Bucks) into gift cards, which is great because we can use CVS gift cards to pay sales tax in future weeks, which is something you can’t do with ECBs. I was also able to use the $4 off $20 CVS store coupon that I was unable to use on last week’s sale. It made the first transaction of the day extra awesome ;)

Here is the summary of our transactions for today. Note that you can still do the Centrum deal even if you do not have the newspaper coupons. There are printable manufacturer coupons for $5 off available here; you won’t make as much money on the deal, but you will land the Centrum products for free or very cheap.

Note: We paid a grand total of $0.00 out of pocket today. We were able to use ECBs to pay most of the “price at register” on each transaction, and then we paid the remainder with gift cards earned previously at CVS. This is not a factor in how much we saved/profited, as we treat ECBs and gift cards just like cash for accounting purposes when breaking down our trip summaries.

THE TOTAL BOTTOM LINE FOR ALL PURCHASES: There is only one “bottom line” calculation for these transactions because there was no sales tax on any of the items. We made a profit of $18.09 and received $161.02 of merchandise when calculated at regular prices, a savings of 111.2%. Then we went out for breakfast and spent about that much money ;)

Extreme Couponing Tip: You can usually get two prints of most internet coupons. To find them in the easiest possible way, use our preclipped links that take you right to the coupon. Then come back and click the same link to get your 2nd print. This will save you the time spent searching for the coupon.

  1. I don’t understand ECBs. I have about $40 stored up. Can I use that to pay for anything at CVS?

    • You can buy almost anything. There is a list somewhere on the CVS web site, but I know you can rule out alcohol, tobacco, gift cards and lottery tickets. There may be other exclusions as well.

Use your ECBs to lower your bill once all of your other coupons have been deducted from your transaction :)

Also, remember that these things have expiration dates. Don’t let your ECBs expire!

  2. Wow! How many newspapers do you purchase weekly. I buy two, but miss out on these extreme deals because I learn of them late…I don’t see what you do when going over the sales inserts. Love your blog. Impressive. One question…can you use EBC’s to buy gift cards? What did you mean in your posting? Thx t

  3. people like you buying that many Vitamins is exactly why no CVS within 20 miles of me has any in stock and they even removed the sale signs in some stores.

    • Both of us did the deal 2x and we did it over multiple stores. We could have done the deal many more times (the limit was 5x gift cards, or a total of 30 bottles for the two of us), but we passed on doing more to allow others to take advantage of the deal.

With all due respect, your anger is misdirected.

    • Matt u might first want to know a little about the person writing this blog before you judge. Ask questions and get to know what the person did to obtain this many.
I also went to CVS and they were out but spoke to the manager and he gave me a rain-check and promised to have them for me next week.

      • Thanks Gery. BTW, good move on the rain check. Most CVS stores are very rain check friendly, including on gift cards and ECB deals.

  4. That is awesome! Great job on your CVS shopping!
